NAVAN and Southwell's are the places Milesey would like to be today but after Cheltenham he's probably still trying to recover.

Anyway a win's a win wherever you go and here are his tips for today.

Navan 2.15
BONISLAND 2.45

Been told by the trainer, who is a mate “this horse is a class apart today, Barry Geraghty has been booked for the ride, won't be a problem stepping up to 2m7f “. So there you have it, SUNTIEP for Walsh and Mullins will be sure to grab second spot in this one, then again Irish racing on a monday. Ruby could be sitting in the mud today. Let's hope not though with my next pick.

Navan 2.45
CITY SLICKER 1.77

This horse was a short-priced favourite last time, over track and distance. The jumping that day was terrible but Mullins would have that all sorted today, second in a race where it jumped off to the right isn't a bad thing, so with the trainer sorting out any issues, this one hopefully will get the jumping right and Ruby will be able to sit tight and take the win.

Kempton 3.20
FLAMBOROUGH BREEZE 3.25

Has hit a hat-trick at this track before, only missed out by a head last time out at Lingers, Jim Crowley on board today will give this one every chance to bounce back to winning ways.

Kempton 5.20
RED RAMESSES 3.95

I had a look over the Wolverhampton card and nothing at all caught my eye, so came back to this one, a horse in great form, going for the hat-trick today, has a weight rise for recent wins but hard to go against this one in the form he is in.

LUCKY 15

Navan 2.15
BONISLAND 2.34

Navan 2.45
CITY SLICKER 1.77

Kempton 3.20
FLAMBOROUGH BREEZE 3.25

RED RAMESSES 3.95

I think today could be a great day at Southwell for Aidan Coleman and Venetia William.

Representing the excellent Venetia Williams, Massena would appear to have strong claims of building on a promising effort last time and winning the 16:40 at Southwell. Disappointing on his first couple of starts for the yard last season, there has been a lot more to like about Massena’s performances this year, shaping well on his handicap bow at Sandown before producing an improved effort to finish second at Warwick eight days ago. He appears to have been found a good opportunity here and should put up a bold show.

Back Massena @ 3.6 in the 16:40 at Southwell

He brings a solid level of form to the table and could run well at a big price. At present he is trading at 12.0 on the exchange

Gordon Elliott’s string in such good form at present, get his exclusive thoughts on his Bank Holiday Monday runners at Navan…

      14.15 Navan – Bonisland

He’s been in good form and he’s been working well recently, we had intended to go to Cheltenham with him where he had multiple entries, but unfortunately he just didn’t get in to any of the races that we had targeted for him. It would be nice if he could atone for that here, in what looks a small but select field. He won his bumper and his maiden hurdle quite nicely at the end of last year, and then we stepped him up in grade and he didn’t disappoint. He showed a good level of form in behind some smart types like Willie Mullins’ Ballycasey and Mouse Morris’ Rule the World.

Mullins reopposes with Suntiep and he looks a talented sort having won his maiden hurdle nicely here in January, and looks the one to beat. However, our lad will appreciate the soft ground and the extended trip of 2m7f as he has race winning form under similar conditions.

His regular pilot Davy Russell is currently injured, so the owners were delighted to have Barry Geraghty booked to take the ride. If it turns in to a tactical affair there’s no better man to have on your side, and I’d be hopeful of a good run from him at a track that he has run well at in the past.

      15.15 Navan – Barneys Honour

He ran another cracker at Gowran Park over fences last Saturday, finishing a staying on third of 14 runners behind a what looked a well handicapped horse in the shape of Conor O’Dwyer’s Competitive Edge, only beaten seven lengths at the finish. The ground was very heavy that day and he just struggled a bit to make up the ground on the front two at the business end of the race. We have decided to put him back over hurdles and his rating is quite similar under both codes (Chase OR of 118, Hurdles OR of 119) now having gone up 4lbs since finishing second to Rory Anna over hurdles at Gowran Park in January.

We have Davy O’Leary booked to take the ride, and the 7lbs that he claims will certainly help him contend with that rise in the weights. If he can continue improving, and reproduce the form he has been showing of late in more competitive races over fences, he would have a good chance of reaching the frame here again and hopefully picking up some more prize money as he has been doing all season.

Champion mare Black Caviar will attempt to extend her unbeaten sequence to 24 wins in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night…

The race is expected to be the mare’s final start in Melbourne and, as usual, she is likely to start long odds-on to prevail.

The Peter Moody-trained Black Caviar showed that she retained all of her old sparkle when slamming her Flemington rivals on her return from an eight-month absence, breaking the track record in the race named in her honour, and it would rank as a major surprise were she to taste defeat on Friday, facing only six rivals.

      21:19 Juvenile

      T1 Alien Planet
Exceptionally fast win in the puppy race on Derby final night shows what he is capable of. Unraced since November and mixed record after a long break. Connections unsure about the trap one draw (two from five record). Winner of only one of his last nine races.

      T2 Teejays Bluehawk
Will have to do it the hard way judged on previous trial form (yet to race at this track). Beaten at odds-on on his seasonal return at Hove and has won only one race in his last seven outings.

      T3 Ballymac Eske
Derby favourite but yet to win in three starts at Wimbledon although only just touched off by Farloe Warhawk in a riveting Puppy Derby final. Fast trial last week but unraced since December. Would prove hard to beat if poaching an early advantage.

      T4 Farloe Warhawk
Ran unbeaten in the Puppy Derby here last summer and has won 12 of his last 14 races. Capable of very fast starts here as confirmed in last week’s trial although overall time suggested he needed it. Without a race for four months but can go well fresh. Chance depends on getting clear of his kennelmate.

      T5 Jaytee Hellcat
Still to see what he is truly capable of but a fast winner here in November and confirmed that run with an impressive trial last week. Likely to enjoy plenty of racing room and chance is better than his odds might suggest.

      T6 Lenson Champ
Has a fitness edge on most of his rivals but even a ‘flyer’ is highly unlikely to prove good enough judged on his previous moderate Wimbledon record.

      Verdict:
Barrie Draper has a mightily strong hand but while Ballymac Eske will be the obvious choice of his two, kennelmate Farloe Warhawk should not be under-estimated, despite obvious signs of needing his trial last week. The two fought out a tremendous buckle in the Puppy Derby – where Eske had actually led – but given Warhawk’s far superior record over the CD and the likelihood that he will lead he offers slightly more value over his rival and earns the slimmest of votes. Value seekers could do worse than include Jaytee Hellcat, whose trial last week confirmed his ability and he could surprise granted a likely clear run.

      19:34 Sprint
King Scotty would be fast enough to win the ‘A’ division on his best form here and rates the night’s best bet in a far from strong line-up. Comeragh King is at least winning races and rates best of the rest.

      19:49 Ladies
A belter of a contest but Oaks third Forest Mollie (yet to win in four here) may struggle to hold in-form Lughill Valerie early on. Bridge Ruth is improving with each race here and is preferred to fast starting Jaytee Cuba who has Britania Joan to clear.

      20:04 Marathon
Aero Rebel will be popular back in marathon company as will Black Lamora, who looks well drawn as the lone wide tag, but Buglys Billie has been in excellent form this season and can make it six wins in her last nine races.

      20:19 Springbok final
Rockview Royal defends the competition’s only unbeaten record and has won three of his five races here, but his chance depends on leading early, which may prove difficult alongside Westmead Meteor, who went fastest in the semi-finals. Both jump well, but Ricky Holloway’s runner is also stronger and could prove hard to handle even if only handy early on. Lenson Johnny beat the selection in the first round but may struggle to clear the inside pace of Druids Abouttime and Durrow Lark.

      20:34 Sprint
Aero Joseph makes some appeal after his good trial and fast Romford win last month but Lil Risky has a good record here and is the logical choice. Ballymac Jones has won his last five races from trap one but his trial was poor.

      20:49 Standard
A great match-up between Bubbly Phoenix and Loughteen Blanco but one which Blanco is expected to win given his likely lead ability claims and excellent current form. Derby semi-finalist Phoenix, beaten on his comeback, is faster at his best but is also far more effective from trap six.

      21:04 Stayers
Leger winner Blonde Reagan has an excellent draw outside five railers and should make it four from six over CD. Bubbly Swallow is capable of fast times here but may struggle to enjoy a clear run from trap five. Droopys Xavier (third in the Leger) is still to win here from five tries and may not clear middle favouring Ballymac Pen.

      Recommended Bets
      King Scotty 19:34
      Loughteen Blanco 20:49
      Westmead Meteor 20:19

Last time i posted Greyhound tips had a nice double……

SLICK SCENARIO is one of the fastest greyhounds in training when things fall into place and Keith Allsop’s dog can prove the point with victory in heat one of the Betfred.com Standard Trophy over 500m at Nottingham tonight (8.36, live on SIS).

Superb work on the practice ground – such as recent trials of 23.67sec for Romford’s 400m and 29.32sec here – has not always led to positive results in the hurly-burly of a race but credit the three-year-old with overcoming a slow start to win here on February 25 and he should be able to master a field where the main threat looks to be Head Iton Eoin on his immediate inside.

In some ways, Graham Howson’s Cleveland Peter is the polar opposite of Slick Scenario in that he wins more than his share and another victory is on the cards in heat two at 8.52, while the third at 9.07 can go to Paul Sallis’s 2011 Produce winner Go Go Sonic with the Monmore handler also fancied to land a 480m puppy open at 9.22 courtesy of Klockwork Korker.

Best bet of the night could be Keith Allsop’s Slick Sleek in the 8.04 over 305m. He is returning from an absence but that is rarely an issue in sprints and his best form is arguably a little superior to that of his rivals.

Two maidens over the same two-bend trip can go to recent course and distance Eggstravaganza winner Burnpark Kate (8.19) and newcomer Ballarue Plan (9.41, non-SIS), while the absence of Tynwald Tom from the 680m finale at 10.00 could leave the way open for Slaneyside Mona.

Romford has three heats of the Coral on TV Stayers Trophy over 575m with the Mark Wallis-trained Planning likely to appreciate the return to a happy hunting ground when he goes in the opener at 7.27.

A poor run at Coventry has been flanked by troubled ones here and at Monmore but he has a good make-up as the sole seeded runner this evening and can use to end the winning run of Roseville Bullet who comes into the contest on a four-timer and clearly merits maximum respect.

The second heat at 7.58 should boil down to a match between Ding Hero and Droopys English and, while it is possible to make a value case for the last-named despite him being well beaten when the pair met here at the start of the month, the Kevin Hutton-trained Ding Hero has the benefit of the inside draw and is a far more consistent scorer.

There are quite a few collateral formlines to digest in heat three at 8.31 with preference for Paul Young’s Young Olympian on the basis that his recent improved trapping gives him a good chance to stay prominent from the outset before asserting early on the final circuit.
