racing generic

WELL it's back down to ground with a massive bump today after an amazing 4 days at Cheltenham.

At least the Grand National is just on the horizon, so still plenty of jump racing up until then before we get onto the flat turf season.
So here we go with todays racing:

UTTOXETER 14.05

  • ROCKY ELSOM 3.4

Going for the hat-trick today, has been progressing very well and there is plenty more to come from this horse. Had to laugh when i saw this one running today, for i witnessed this one personally at Huntingdon last time out and looked a very good horse that day, but bet against it, but i know i wasn't the only one who did on that day.

UTTOXETER 15.15

  • THE TRACEY SHUFFLE 7.6

Can bounce back today from a terrible run last time out, the trip should suit this horse more today, and is capable more then has shown recently and can bounce back with a big run today.

UTTOXETER 15.50 – MIDLANDS GRAND NATIONAL CHASE

  • ONE IN A MILAN 14.5 e/w

was a fairly useful hurdler in Ireland for Robert Tyner, and quickly at that level over fences, winning novice at Ffos Las (3m) in January and runner up over same C&D since. Open to further improvement.

KEMPTON 15.25

  • SHERNANDO 2.14

Has got to grip with the hurdles very well after being very classy as a flat runner, is up in weight today after previous win, but can defy that penalty and go on to another victory today.

DOWN ROYAL 15.20

  • CHICAGO GREY 1.77

Class act in this race and rates the one to beat by far, the 3m 2f trip will be no problem for this horse today for it's been a winner at the 4m mark. The soft ground will hold no problem for this horse and should go on to take the win.

WOLVERHAMPTON 19.20

  • HIDDON COIN 1.98

Three from four races in claimers and i expect him to run another big race today, could be a close run thing with GROOVE ON, but siding with HIDDON COIN, for Groove on last time out was very poor and based on that run i expect HIDDON COIN to win.

Lucky 15

  • 14.05 ROCKY ELSOM
  • 15.20 CHICAGO GREY
  • 15.25 SHERNANDO
  • 19.20 HIDDON COIN
Good luck today with your picks.
Milesey.

Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter on Saturday…

Carruthers won the 2011 Hennessy and was right back on song over fences with brace of Ffos Las handicap wins for this rider. Has never won from mark this high, however, so probably best looking elsewhere.

Master Overseer is a thorough stayer who took this prize 12 months ago. Has won both completed starts this term, posting career-best effort at Wincanton (25f) in January, but inconsistent profile is off-putting.

Silver By Nature is a mud-loving front runner who won Haydock’s Grand National Trial in 2010 and 2011, though ran no sort of race in this year’s renewal returning from a 23 month absence, and has something to prove now.

Monbeg Dude improved to land valuable Cheltenham handicap (27f) prior to Welsh National success in January. Laboured third at Haydock last time, though. Engaged 3.20 Cheltenham Friday.

Bradley has been as good as ever this term, neck second to Monbeg Dude at Cheltenham (27f) in November, and not disgraced when fifth over 25f there next time, but has posted a rare poor effort at Warwick since.

Fill The Power was a fairly useful hurdler who made a winning start over fences at Sedgefield (2½m) in May. Placed on all 5 completed outings at up to 25f since, and well worth a try at this sort of trip.

Major Malarkey is a strong stayer who ran career best when second to Master Overseer in this event last year. Back to form when runner-up at Sandown in December (29f), but not at his best either start since.

One In A Milan was a fairly useful hurdler in Ireland for Robert Tyner, and quickly at that level over fences, winning novice at Ffos Las (3m) in January and runner up over same C&D since. Open to further improvement.

Cool Operator was back to his very best when rounding off 2012 campaign with a couple of wins, outstaying rivals at Carlisle (3¼m) in December. Likely to stay this far, but will find life tougher off revised mark.

Chac du Cadran is an out-and-out stayer who relished step up to 3¾m when opening chasing account at Catterick in January. Type to progress again, but handicapper taking no chances with him now.

Big Occasion matched his useful hurdles form when second of 9 in 3½m handicap at Lingfield last month, keeping on well, and remains unexposed as a staying chaser, though 3 lb out of the weights here.

Global Power was a useful hurdler who made winning start to his chasing career at Fontwell (2½m) in October. Good sixth in 2¾m Newbury handicap next time, and creditable third both starts since, but 5 lb wrong here.

You Know Yourself showed further progress when going in again at Carlisle (3m) in April. Hit and miss this term, though, so probably best left alone from 7 lb out of the handicap.

Rebeccas Choice produiced her best effort for a while with headgear back on when winning 3m handicap chase here last month, and has followed up at Warwick (29f) since, but races from 14 lb higher mark now

      1. One In A Milan
      2. Fill The Power
      3. Big Occasion

One In A Milan is an unexposed staying chaser who has been given a fair-looking initial mark in this sphere, and earns the vote. Fill The Power is a consistent sort who may find the runner-up spot once again, while Big Occasion merits respect despite racing from out of the weights.

    1410 Downroyal

    FARANADOONEY @ 14/1

Looks a cracking e/w bet. Only ran twice over hurdles, winning last tie out last summer, but is fit from a couple of recent runs on the Flat. The unexposed Faranadooney is feared most returning to the jumps scene and making his handicap bow in this sphere.

Oddschecker verdict has it coming 2nd, betfreds predictor has it coming 1st

    HORSE RACING TIPS
    ————————-

    LIMERICK 2.55
    DJAKADAM 1.73
WALSH and MULLINS, over same trip last time out scored a win, and is penalised for that today, but in this company the weight penalty shouldn’t be enough for this one to go and score a back to back.

    LIMERICK 3.25
    TWIGLINE 1.62
Another WALSH and MULLINS pick today, i could end up with both back firing on me if RUBY fancies sitting in the dirt more then in the saddle today, lets hope he has one of his better days, this horse crashed out last time but can come back today and win this race with ease.

    CARLISLE 4.30
    UPSWING 1.91
This horse has been going well in novice company and has been shaping up really well, and is expected to get the better of this field today.

    WEXFORD 5.35
    ROBINA MAI 2.76
On debut today for Willie Mullins, so can tell you absolutely nothing about this one.

    OUTSIDER OF THE DAY

      Lingfield on Sunday…

fairly confident that Tenure can follow up his win at Kempton on Wednesday with further success here. The four-year-old, a half-brother to the smart Dux Scholar and out of the Cheshire Oaks-winning mare Alumni, made two starts for former trainer Sir Michael Stoute, actually making his racecourse debut in what has turned out to be a strong renewal of the Wood Ditton. He disappointed on his next outing but was picked up by Gary Moore and shaped with promise after six months off at Lingfield in January prior to building upon that effort in no uncertain terms when running out a ready winner four days ago. He appeals as being very well treated under a penalty, and is likely to prove most difficult to beat.

      Lingfield
      Back Tenure @ 1.81 in the 16:15

Milesey, apologies. I didn’t have access to emails yesterday and admin forgot. If I’d seen them as a comment last night I’d have put them up but didn’t have time this morning with the boy’s football to go to. If you email and post them as a comment someone will always get them up.
