THE Voice of Value is an amateur tipster with a love for racing and jumps in particular. He caught the bug at an early age when his grandfather had a share in a winning chaser and his annual Grand National and Cheltenham guides have been well received our the past few years.

We're delighted to have him aboard and here is the fifth of his detailed day-one write-ups and tips for the greatest show on turf this week.

OLBG Mares Hurdle

– 4.00 p.m.

– 2m 4f

– Race exclusively for mares (handbags, lipstick and high-heels optional)

– Quevega won FIVE years on the bounce and has now been retired

This one is simple. Annie Power wins. Go and collect your winnings. A top-class mare who is streets ahead of the rest of these and despite having had injury problems this year she should still be able to win this without having to come off the bridal. Although the price is pretty short I would still have a bet. Maybe put her in a double or treble with other strong fancies. Glens Melody should probably follow her home but Bitofapuzzle is a potential improver at fancy odds of 20-1 with totesport so that would be my each way shout.

Main Selection: Annie Power – 4-6 (totesport)

Each way selection:  Bitofapuzzle – 20-1 (totesport)

Betting suggestions:

Annie Power – 5 point win at 4-6

Bitofapuzzle – 0.5 pts each way at 20-1
