JOHNB has a great track record for ante-post tips – he landed a memorable 33-1 winner in the Derby last weekend and his profit for the year on those selections currently sits at 45 points.
He has posted a few for the coming weeks and they're included below, with the prices he first advised them at. If any more arrive they'll be added to this thread so they're all in the one place.
York, Saturday June 13
Charity Sprint Handicap
Scalzo 4-1 Ladbrokes Paddy Power Coral Betway
Johnb says: “Made a mockery of his handicap mark last time out winning by 7 lengths at Haydock when on a mark of 77. The handicapper has since raised him a massive 18lb.
“A lot of people will say 18lb is a lot and probably too much and it is a lot but it's probably not enough. This colt is by Paco Boy and out of a half sister to Ouija Board and he looks a nailed on group horse and after just three runs I think he is ready for a group race already.
“Which means if he is good enough to be a group horse just now then that means he is still at least 10lb ahead of the handicapper.
“Trained by Martyn Meade he could easily have gone to Royal Ascot next week but instead goes for the although big field it's the easier option at York on Saturday.”
Royal Ascot, June 16
Queen Anne Stakes
Able Friend 5-2 Skybet, Ladbrokes (Now 9-4)
Royal Ascot, June 17
Prince of Wales Stakes
Cannock Chase 12-1 Bet365 (non-runner no bet only with Bet365)
Long time reader, 1st time poster. Grateful for all the tips and I will be on able friend with the below offer its a no brainier!
Sky bet now have money back if horse loses in the Queen Anne up to a max of £25
2:30pm on Tuesday 16 June its Able Friend v Solow
with Night of Thunder, Toormore, Arod , Cable Bay and others on the bench
Is it a two horse race?
Able Friend and Solow are the two superstars in the race with sectionals that say yes it is a two horse race
Punter in the uk are just not getting into sectionals, they are a weapon for us punters as they give us so much valuable information
The sectionals tell me that Solow needs to make sure the Queen Anne Stakes is run at a fast pace, a pace that will allow him to take advantage of his stamina
Solow has won at one mile but nine furlongs is his prefered distance which is why he has to make this a stamina test,
But even that might not be good enough against the best miler in the world.
Able Friend is the best miler and he has predominantly been kept at his best distance, one mile is HIS DISTANCE and he is out to prove that at Ascot
his sectionals for the last two furlongs is a second quicker than Solow.
There are doubts about the straight course at Ascot as he is used to the bends of Sha Tin where all his wins have come
Able Friends trainer and jockey have no doubts that he will be fine on the straight track,
For myself I also believe that the straight track will be ok because if there was the slightest doubt then connection would have gone for the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.
His last run at Sha Tin was won on the bridle, jockey Jaoa Moreira just sat motionless as Able Friend ate up the ground to win as comfortably as is possible,
Yes he was expected to win but to do it in the style he did just blew everyone away.
Able Friend has been described as a monster, an absolute freak and the best his trainer and jockey have had and when you see him at Ascot you will see a monster and he is ready to be unleashed.
Connections have said the only worry was the traveling, well that was put to bed as he traveled well and has impressed everyone at Michael Bells yard
At Royal Ascot the BEAST WILL BE UNLEASED
Cannock Chase
This might have raised a few eyebrows but this horse has still got improvement in him
In his two runs this season he doesn’t stand out, but with the ground not perfect for him in those races and the fact that this race is his main target for the season means those races were just prep races.
Sir Michael Stoute can get a horse ready for a planned race and he can improve horses massively for planned targets
The ground is going to be perfect for him and he looked to love the track last year
Form wise I can’t really put much up for him but its another case of what I have seen from his runs that convince me he is a big player to win the Prince of Wales Stakes and believe me when I say Sir Michael Stoute will have him 100%
