The Grand National is very much on the horizon and the buzz for the world’s greatest steeplechase continues as we approach the big day.
The handicapper has had his say and the weights for the race have been released for us to see.
At present a total of 58 horses hold entries for Aintree but of that list will shorten in a weeks time as 34 runners is the maximum that can participate.
It's sad to see trainer Shark Hanlon pull Hewick out of the race, as the story behind the horse is brilliant and I'd of liked to see him run. Hewick was the original top weight but as he is now scraped for the race it is Gordon Elliots Conflated who heads the list with a handicap mark of 166 and a weight of 11st 12lb.
Myself and Rizz managed to tip up last years winner Corach Rambler and If he's to do what the legendary Red Rum and Tiger Roll did which was winning the Grand National two years on the trot then he will have to do so with a rating of 159 carrying 13lb more than he did last year. A tougher task of course, but If you are going of the current betting market he is fancied to pull it off as he is the current 9/2 favourite.

I tend to have four bets in the Grand National which consist of two main bets and two each way plays at bigger odds. I will probably go for the same betting plan this year, but of course It's up to yourself on how you place your money If you do decide on having a bet.
