Frustratingly, the website encountered a couple of technical difficulties on Wednesday, which meant the Thursday thread could not be posted.

Apologies from everyone at MFT for the problems over the last 24 hours, but it did mean we missed out on a winner from being posted.

I had two horses lined up to be posted, and they were Tankardstown Diva and Pep Talking.

The first-named horse won, and the other didn't get to run as Ludlow had to cancel the later chase races due to horses slipping on that track.

Last Rodeo 12/1 (0.5pt EW, 5pl) – Cheltenham 1.15

The opening race at Cheltenham's opening meeting for the new jumps season is where I am kicking off Friday's racing.

Last Rodeo will have to overcome a 246-day absence to win this, but he made light work of his last run in a maiden at Lingfield in February.

I am fully aware that this race is a different beast compared to the maiden he won, but he was impressive on the eye that day, and the money was down from his 66/1 penultimate run, so they knew the step up in trip was going to work.

Jack Tudor used to be the stable jockey for Christian Williams, but he is now the stable jockey for David Pipe. He has decided to dodge the ride on Pipe's American Sniper, who has course form and was in decent nick last time we saw him. That gives me plenty of confidence that he believes this horse isn't worth missing the ride.

He runs off a decent handicap mark of 118 and a good racing weight of 10st 9lbs.

Alnilam 10/3 (1pt) – Cheltenham 1.50

King Of Kingsfield will be the one many punters will latch onto for this Class 2 chase handicap, but I am siding with the red-hot Sean Bowen and Olly Murphy horse.

It's hard to get away from backing a Sean Bowen horse these days. He is the best jumps jockey in the world, even better than the likes of Paul Townend and Harry Cobden (in my opinion).

I'm not as old as a lot of you reading this, who will remember how good AP McCoy was, but Sean Bowen leaves a similar impression on his horses.

Sean is all action, and even when he's on an outsider, you still think he can get a tune out of them and get them to win.

Alnilam won at Uttoxeter on chasing debut, beating Country Mile, who also runs in this race. Alnilam is carrying 5lb more than the horse he beast lto, which makes it tougher, but he put in a lovely round.

Uttoxeter has some stiff fences, similar to Cheltenham. That is one of the main selling points for backing Alnilam, as a lot of novice chasers struggle to adapt to Cheltenham's fences.
