Once again, all of us at MrFixIt apologise for the huge inconvenience of the website not being functional over the last couple of days.
Hopefully, we should be rocking ‘n' rolling with the website now, and everything can return to normal.
Now, let's find some winners for Friday's racing. As always, please put your fancies in the comments.
Williethebuilder 7/4 (2pt) – Wetherby 1.47
I found it fascinating that Christian Williams has only ever used Sean Bowen three times in his career as a trainer.
The fact that they are both Welsh, and Christian has used James Bowen over 90 times, you'd have thought he would have opted for Sean, with him being the multiple Champion Jockey.
Obviously, whenever Sean gets the call-up from a yard that doesn't use him all too often, it is very eye-catching. However, not just that, Williethebuilder is a course winner and is on a decent handicap mark for his stable debut for Christian.
This isn't a strong race, so I think Williethebuilder can get away with carrying twelve stone around Wetherby.
He won a tougher race off this mark at this venue this time last year, carrying 11st 13lbs on that occasion. He beat Alnilam, who went on to frank the form over hurdles and is now a classy chaser.
The opposition for today's race is okay, but nothing special. High Dancer started to get things going for his old trainer, but over longer trips. The others have been competing at a lower level, so the top weight has to be the play, even at relatively short odds.
Back it with Tote (no fixed odds)Largy Belter 7/1 (1pt) – Uttoxeter 3.05
This selection could be a genius pick or could go up in flames.
Largy Belter is making his rules debut over obstacles, but that is over fences, which is a rarity in this game.
Not only that, but he is making his stable debut for Dan Skelton, who does not go down this route at all. Dan is a firm believer in landing handicaps, so the general three runs over hurdles, then going over fences would be normal.
It's an obvious risk backing him for this contest against some very talented hurdlers, who are now transitioning to fences, but I think it speaks volumes that they are doing this.
He was fourth in his sole PTP run. The winner and runner-up have been acquired by Dan, and the runner-up won a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last weekend. He was second on his bumper debut in Ireland, so he clearly has a decent level of ability.
It would be interesting if the money arrives for him, so I'd recommend watching the market.
