THERE is a lovely card of racing at Newbury on Friday and there are a few that I think are worth a bet so we have convened an emergency podcast.
There are two excellent graded races together with competitive handicaps and four races are going out live on ITV4. Have a listen to the podcast below:
A summary of the tips are as follows:
1.50pm Newbury
AZZERTI is a progressive chaser in his second season over fences who won last time here over course and distance and ran well at Cheltenham in March. Although this is a better race I think he can perform well whilst there are question marks over some at the top of the market.
2.25pm Newbury
The favourite here is CHAMP and rightly so. He is an impressive horse and looks capable of plenty of improvement now that he is running over fences. This race looks well within his grasp and although Black Op is the main threat in the betting I think the main danger would be Vision Des Flos if he is better this time over fences than he was when tried last year. Champ is a great price at 6-5 though and I think he should be odds on.
3.00pm Newbury
I am recommending a win double on Champ in the 2.25pm and PAISLEY PARK in this one. He is miles better than most of his competitors here and the only one that interested me with the initial entries was If The Cap Fits but he hasn't been declared. I think Paisley Park should be a good think here provided he is fit enough on reappearance.
3.35pm Newbury
The fourth and final race of the ITV coverage is a cracker. It's a very competitive handicap and quite a few bookmakers are offering extra places so take advantage. The one that I like is NO HIDDEN CHARGES who looks a big price. He wasn't beaten far in a very good quality novice hurdle at Cheltenham last time out and prior to that he had looked like a nice progressive novice hurdler. He certainly shouldn't be 20-1 in this race.
