RACE five on day three is the Brown Advisory Plate or the Byrne Group Plate or whatever it’s called now as it’s had so many names. But I still call it the Festival Plate, run over two miles five furlongs.

Brown Advisory Plate

Frodon – Paul Nicholls 14-1 10bet

Must have a chance at big odds, won six of his eight chase runs with some good recent wins in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup. For a five year old he clearly has talent and has a big future

Diamond King – Gordon Elliott 8-1 10bet

Ante-post favourite and big chance for Ireland after Empire Of Dirt won last year. Won well on chase debut but two poor performances since although up against some decent horses. Stays this distance well and will go on any ground, very interesting going back to handicap company.

Bouvreuil – Paul Nicholls 11-1 10bet

Only just got caught in a handicap chase at last year's festival when always looking like winning. But he hasn’t done much since then and was beaten 7 lengths by Frodon last time, not for me this one at odds that are too short.

Baron Alco – Gary Moore 12-1 10bet

Couple of decent seconds behind Top Notch and Whisper but his second last time out could just raise him in the weights enough to scupper his chances.

Selections

  • DIAMOND KING 8-1 10bet
