IT was a decent Thursday with one winner Whitefall (tipped 5-1, SP 11-4), two seconds (tipped 5-1 and 6-1) and one unplaced so good profit for the day.
I promised a performance update and here it is from June 15.
Selections: 73, Number showing return: 31
Winners: 10, Placed: 21
Strike rate: 42 per cent
Points staked: 69
Points Up/Down: +11.6
Return on investment: 17%
At level £10 per point your return to date would be + £117
For information, I track performance of Racing Post tipsters (which is part of the paid RP membership) and while I may have missed a few days the record is broadly accurate.
It's a total of around 12 people/tips that are provided, and for roughly the same period, with more than 600 selections, the ROI is -7%, that is loss making.
Within this there are some good individual tipsters but actually only two individuals with higher ROI than me, the highest being a very solid 55%.
I'm not saying this to put RP down, and over a longer period maybe they will perform better, but the Winning Insights service compares favourably with one of the main sources of top tips in the industry over these last two months.
In the last few days I have included fewer longer price each ways so strike rate has increased and return has also increased (59% but small sample so far) and we'll continue with this approach for now.
I have one Friday tip but may add more.
Newbury 5.30 (11 runners)
Fluctuation 8-1
All bets each way unless otherwise indicated. Beware non-runners reducing number of places paid out, in which case use Betfair.
Prices are advised from bet365 previous evening. If you are betting close to the race and there has been significant drift, avoid the bet, since other factors have clearly kicked in.

gud day yesterday, I missed the first race which didn’t place and I put the last 3 in a e/w treble, and 3 singles, sweeeeeet, thankin you x
Tosh.
if you put a quid each way on your tips i think you find you are down.
realist, I can’t wait for one of your tips either.
I made 400 profit,pls add few more x
Nice one Scott – I guess you got close to the advised prices since Whitefall and Renoir’s Lady both shortened.
Lilbourne Lass at Newbury in the 3.55 is my pick of the day. Hannon & Hughes combo which are somewhat fruitful. Hammond is the leading trainer at the track with 79 winners in the past 5yrs sand leading this season with 9 wins too day. Much the same for Hughes who has 65 winners here in 5yrs and 9 this season
Cheers missed all racing yesterday exept last one so backed it ew at 5s good win
Today’s selection Fluctuation starting to drift (8’s to 10) so something may be amiss, perhaps going. If it drifts much more say to 12’s I’d be inclined to avoid the bet. If you’re betting close to the off, it’s worth monitoring, also on exchanges in case there is late money coming in at better price.
Winning Insights what’s your thoughts on Lilbourne Lass Newbury 3.55
Another that’s appealing for an e/w bet is Jim Goldies only horse at Newcastlewhich is Celedonia in the 4.20 with Lucy Alexander on board and has been cut from20’s into 14/1 already
Mr H – haven’t studied the race in detail but was looking at all Newbury card last night briefly and I would pick Wind Fire personally. Willing to be proven wrong through!
Just checked and both are 7/4 JF so think ill just have an EW punt at Goldies sole mount at Newcastle in Caledonia
@Winning Insights,,,pulling the old hair out here!!! I had been waiting on a certain horse running again and bloomin missed it yesterday!!….SKYTRAIN, 3.15 Nmkt,,1st @ 10/1…M.Johnston/N.Callan…Keep an eye on this one WI…
AUTHORSHIP 3.45 Newcastle G Lee rode shocker on it at Leicester on its first run hopefully will win today :)
Racing Post
Today’s Pointers
Mark Johnston has three wins and four second places (one was demoted) from his seven previous runners in the three-year-old and upwards maiden over 1m4f at Catterick (7.10) in the last ten years. He runs Commissioned in a bid to maintain that good record.
That’s a quality record in this race from M Johnston although its a very short price
SilentJoe sorry you missed Sky Train – I saw it win at Musselburgh in March very nicely, and you’re right a nice horse – 6 wins out of 17 starts and great price yesterday – very frustrating to miss those when you’ve been waiting! If you look at form it has a win, then 2-3 down the field, then wins again..
