NEVER heard of Sir Graham Wade – but I'll say thank you and goodnight if he romps home at Nottingham today.
The 3.40 is Milesey's featured race and Sir Graham is his pick. Here are his Wednesday tips:
3.30 Lingfield
INTRIGO
A winner at 5-1 at Leicester over 7f (soft) on his latest outing in October last year, beating Equitissa by 4l.
4.30 Lingfield
ANOTHER COCKTAIL

2.10 Nottingham
ELHAAME

3.40 Nottingham
SIR GRAHAM WADE
Winner of six races from 1m 4f to 1m 7f on ground varying from firm to soft. A winner at Nantes over 1m 4f in October last year, beating Opera Vert by 1 1/2l.
8.00 Kempton
ERODIUM
Won on his latest outing when 4-5 fav at Lingfield over 1m last month, beating Spring Tonic by 1 1/2l.
OUTSIDERS
5.10 Nottingham
TWO NO BIDS 12-1
A winner at 15-2 at Wolverhampton over 1m 1f on his latest outing last month, beating Off The Pulse by 1/2l.
3.20 Catterick
RIO COBOLO 10-1
Has won eight races from 5f to 1m on ground varying from good to firm to heavy and on the all-weather. Well beaten at 4-1fav behind Rise To Glory when eighth of 12 on his latest outing at Musselburgh over 7f (good to soft) last month.
5.20 Catterick
DR IRV 10-1
A winner at 1m 6f on good to firm ground. Third of 13 behind Authentication beaten 19l at 9-2 on his latest outing over this course and distance (good to firm) in September last year. Having his first run for a new stable today, previously with Mrs K Walton.
TODAY'S RACE IN FOCUS
Nottingham 3.40
Flying Cross was much improved when third in 2010 Irish St Leger for Aiden O'Brien on just fourth career start. Below that form in two starts for John Gosden, though, and starts out for new yard after long absence.
Sir Graham Wade developed into smart staying performer in second half of last term, winning Old Borough and Mallard handicaps before landing listed event in France, and remains one to keep on side.
The Bull Hayes was once a useful dual-purpose performer who was back on his game when placed in events at Doncaster and Musselburgh last month, though up against it here and isn't one to place maximum faith in.
Cavaleiro was a two-time winner in 2011 who improved again last term when placed on 3 occasions, only nose behind Sir Graham Wade in 1¾m listed event at Ascot in October. Should continue to give good account.
Handazan went close under enterpising ride in 1¼m Naas maiden in May and duly went one better at Leopardstown in June for John Oxx. Fairly useful over hurdles since but needs to step up again to feature.
Jaaryah is a lightly-raced filly who is yet to fully confirm the promise of her debut win in 2010 and was bought from Roger Varian's yard for just 6500 gns in December.
Lily In Pink thrived last summer, winning three handicaps at up to 13.3f. Better still when third in Newmarket listed event final 2012 start and can get involved here if ready to go after seven-month absence.
Testosterone was a smart filly for Pascal Bary in France in 2011. Bought for 1,200,000 gns but nowhere near that form in trio of Group 2s for this yard last term, though has to be respected dropped into this grade.
Earth Amber is a Hurricane Run half-sister to useful 10.5f winner Siete Vidas. Won 13f maiden at Maisons-Laffitte for Andre de Royer-Dupre last summer but given tough task on first UK outing for new yard.
1. Sir Graham Wade
2. Testosterone
3. Cavaleiro
Verdict: Sir Graham Wade went from strength to strength in the latter part of the 2012 season and is taken to add another listed race to his tally on his first start this time around. Testosterone was a disappointment last year but it's too soon to write her off just yet and she may provide the stiffest challenge to Mark Johnston's colt.

LINGFIELD PLACEPOT / WEDNESDAY
——————————-
14:00- A well-backed favourite, Teth was a disappointment at this venue on her latest start, beaten just over nine lengths in fourth. She was, however, given plenty to do on that occasion and it may be worth forgiving her and instead concentrating on the promise shown on her penultimate start where she finished second, producing an effort that would see her go close here. Titan Diamond hasn’t always appealed as the most solid of propositions, but he has been running well of late, finishing in the frame on his four most recent outings, and should give a good account.
14:30- Without a win since his second start as a two-year-old, The Noble Ord has produced plenty of creditable efforts in defeat and appeals as an ideal type for the Placepot. The booking of Richard Hughes is an undoubted positive and it would be little surprise were the Champion Jockey able to coax enough improvement out of The Noble Ord to see him make an overdue return to the winners’ enclosure. With some tricky contests to negotiate later on the card, we will bank on The Noble Ord.
15:00- It is hard to knock Dark Lane’s consistency and he merits inclusion in the Placepot. A winner over five furlongs on his latest start here, David Evans’ charge is at least as effective over today’s six-furlong trip and can rely on the able services of Richard Hughes in the saddle. Desert Strike has been running well of late but appears to be in the grip of the handicapper, so the drop down to claiming company should, therefore, suit and this C&D winner has plenty in his favour.
16:00- A few well-handicapped horses clash in this seven-furlong event for three-year-olds and we may need to include a couple to be on the safe side, particularly with just the two places on offer. Intrigo possibly didn’t achieve quite so much as his major rivals last term, despite gaining more experience, but there was plenty to like about his authoritative win on handicap debut at Leicester where he pulled four lengths clear of the opposition. Another Leicester winner that deserves inclusion is the Charlie Hills-trained Barbs Princess. Something was possibly amiss on debut at Sandown, but Barbs Princess improved notably to land a six-furlong maiden on her next start, and she remains open to plenty of improvement.
16:00- We are presented with the opportunity to include another banker as we rely on the Andrew Balding-trained Melvin The Grate. Hailing from a superb family, Melvin The Grate has plenty to live up to on pedigree but he is improving steadily, scoring on both all-weather starts at Kempton. He always looked to be holding on last time, having quickened well to take the lead, and a 3 lb rise in the weights seems more than fair, particularly with further improvement looking assured.
16:30- Another Cocktail sets the standard and should prove well suited by the step up to a mile and a half. However, he is likely to have plenty of the pool riding on him in the final leg and he does come up against two race-fit rivals that are open to improvement themselves in the shape of Could Be and Strategic Strike. The former was far too green to do himself justice at Kempton last month but stepped up considerably to finish runner-up at the same venue a fortnight later. While Strategic Strike has had just the one start, finishing fourth at Kempton, but remains open to plenty of improvement, today’s step up in trip looking sure to suit.

RACE IN FOCUS
————-
1. Sir Graham Wade
2. Testosterone
3. Cavaleiro
Testosterone had not won since June 2011 but put that right in some style with an emphatic victory in the Further Flight Stakes at Nottingham…
The former French-trained filly showed she had overcome the problems that had troubled her since she joined Ed Dunlop’s stable when outclassing her listed opposition.
At her best Testosterone had finished second in the Group 1 Prix Vermeille in 2011, and she showed a smart turn of foot to scamper three and a quarter lengths clear of Earth Amber.
The long-time leader Handazan was half a length away third with Cavaleiro fourth.
“She had to have a major sinus operation within a month of coming to us last year and she never recovered from it,” said Dunlop.
“She’ll probably step back in trip and stick to her own sex. The Lancashire Oaks is an obvious target for her. She ran in it last year when we were struggling with her and she was fifth to a very good three-year-old (Great Heavens).
RESULT
1. TESTOSTERONE 2.65
2. EARTH AMBER 23.24
3. HANDAZAN 18.41
