ZAIDIYN (3.40) could be the answer to an intriguing 2m handicap at Newcastle on Wednesday.
There are several trailblazers lining up and there is the prospect of a burn-up if they get locked in an early duel for supremacy.
That would play into Zaidiyn's hands as he is a hold-up performer with a touch of class in this grade.
Brian Ellison's top weight hosed up over hurdles here in February and proved his well-being with a recent spin at Doncaster when splitting in-form Golden Birthday and Kensington Star.
Waiting For Richie is a stout stayer, so he is likely to press on from the start, especially as his jockey will want to hold his position from stall one. Waiting For Richie ran really well at Newmarket when rallying to press Sunblazer all the way to the line.
He has form at Newcastle, having held off On Fire and Dominating at the end of September.
Tonto's Spirit has annihilated his rivals on two recent visits to Catterick. Both wins came on his favoured soft ground but he is up 8lb and this is a much deeper contest on an artificial surface.
Stormin Tom is another decent stayer to go from the front, so it will be interesting to see how the race unfolds.
