NOTHING jumps off the page at Doncaster which is a pity as I’ve been bursting for the return of some turf Flat action but MAESTRO ROYAL (3.45) will carry a nice bet over the sticks down at Ascot.
He has converted his smart hurdles form to fences, mopping up two modest events on deep ground, and the fact Maestro Royal receives 6lb from favourite Diego Du Charmil swings the vote in favour of Nicky Henderson’s gelding.
SAMUEL JACKSON (4.55) moves into handicaps on the back of three excellent efforts in novice company.
He produced a 100-1 boil-over at Taunton in December but proved that was no fluke by following up at Bangor three weeks later. Samuel Jackson was elevated to Grade 2 company next time at Doncaster, running a respectable third to useful Enniscoffey Oscar and Shannon Bridge. There was a 19 lengths gap back to smart Calett Mad and Samuel Jackson looks up to this task.
At Carlisle, OUR LUCAS (2.15) can supplement his recent Ayr success, with Brian Hughes once again in the saddle for Glasgow owner Matt Sawers.
Our Lucas is disputing favouritism with PC Dixon and he finished more than two lengths adrift of that rival when they filled the places behind Instingtive at the end of February. Our Lucas is now 12lb better off.
Recommended bets
- Ascot 3.45 – Maestro Royal (100-30, Coral)
- Ascot 4.55 – Samuel Jackson (9-2, general)
- Carlisle 2.15 – Our Lucas (2-1, general)

Recoba’s comment has been deleted. I don’t believe he was being racist but it’s a word that can’t be used and won’t be tolerated on here. If anyone wants to discuss this further email admin but don’t comment about it here. It was a serious error of misjudgement by recoba who should be aware of the controversy the South Park episode caused.
Apologies Mr F.
Most episodes if South Park cause contrevarsy but I would imagine that one even more so. Certainty nothing racist just daft humour,it won’t happen again. ?

Apology accepted – just stay clear of stuff like that on here.
As I said I don’t think you were being racist. You’ve been on here long enough to know it wasn’t meant.
Nice shout Recoba
Lots of unraced horses at Naas today. I fancy one at a price in the first – nine runners so a good each way race. I may take Falcon Knight at 9s – jockey on form and surely even money for the unraced favourite is silly?
How do they price up horses when none of them have raced before?
Through breeding and connections plus how they look and family form
Some move on Lyons horse in the last
Good spot DC, cheers.
John, why is many sires who ran on the flat, can produce go jumping stock, but we rarely see jumping sires produce flat winners, correct me if Im wrong.
produce *good* jumping stock
Simply because of numbers, the vast majority of Sires are flat horses, very few horses from a National Hunt background end up being Sires because they are gelded due to the fact that their racing career is longer

So close with the Nap Smash Williams, beat in a head bobber but still an eachway winner, at Philippa Racing we are happy with a 14/1 eachway Nap winner.
Good money for London Icon but 16lb was just too much to give away on heavy ground, still a good run though
