CHINGACHGOOK (5.45) is only third best in the early tissue for Newcastle's opener but Richard Fahey's colt could be the one to beat.
He was third to Jelmood on his debut and ran a fine race when sent to Lingfield, finishing a close-up fourth to Maverick Officer. Runner-up Ode To Autumn was a wide-margin scorer at Newcastle on Wednesday and Chingachgook probably ran to a mark of around 80, which sets a fair standard in this maiden.
I liked the way he travelled comfortably into the race but was delivered with his challenge up the rails, not the quickest part of the track.
William Haggas saddles hot-pot Completion, third over course and distance 17 days ago. There is a Hugo Palmer newcomer in opposition as well, so the betting should be informative.
Hopefully,Musselburgh will survive a morning inspection and TRESHNISH (2.20) has sound credentials in the 2m handicap hurdle.
Sue Smith's five-year-old is still learning his trade and did well to overcome inexperience to beat Cool Mix in a Newcastle maiden in December.
Treshnish was elevated in grade for a decent novice hurdle at Haydock where the ground was riding very deep. The gelding was no match for favourite Waterlord but he was just behind Warren Greatrex's Mahlervous in third, with 22 lengths back to the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Ravensdale in fourth.
Je Suis Charlie has excellent prospects of going one better than his last visit to Musselburgh when nabbed on the run-in by Keith Dalgleish's Uptown Funk.
He didn't always look the most co-operative on the Flat when trained by Michael Bell and cheek-pieces are applied today.
The meeting opens with a 2m 3f handicap hurdle and Haulani, an excellent second to Redicean at Kempton, is very well treated receiving the four-year-old allowance off a fair mark.
He was campaigned around 10 furlongs on the level by Philip Hide so stamina may become an issue if the track is riding soft.
The obvious each-way alternative is SPECTATOR (12.40). Tim Vaughan does well with his runners here and Spectator was a winner over 1m 6f for Andrew Balding.
He ran into two in-form rivals at Wetherby in the shape of William Of Orange and Irish Row, a subsequent dual winner at Doncaster. Spectator's earlier run at Carlisle when chasing home Brian Ellison's odds-on shot Barrys Jack (owned by the same connections as Haulani) came on heavy ground, so he should handle conditions.

I haven’t talked about it yet as it took a while to sink in but seeing all the messages on social media for Darren Greenfield is heartwarming, the majority of people on this site will know my story
In 2014 I was homeless myself, in Edinburgh
I knew Darren a little, sat with him sometimes and talked sometimes.
I got the help I needed and wanted, that’s why I do what I do now, I know what it’s like, I know what these people go through most days, they get beaten up, spat on and yes even urinated on,
homelessness as a whole is far worse than people think, it’s far worse than we are led to believe and it’s not getting better anytime soon.
I will continue to do what I do because I got another chance
Johnb,
Powerful words.
RIP Darren Greenfield.

well done Alan awsome
The man continues to be on fire – I’ve done his three tips today so good start.
Hope your not counting all your winnings yet Mrfixit ??
I never do. Good comments about Alan but it’s not a contest between him and Johnb.
As a tipster Alan has told me he hates seeing Johnb getting flak just for picking a loser.
I don’t see it as a contest if it was it would be a non contest there like night & day and not just in tipping winners.
Hopefully the last wins for a lovely treble ??
Alan does it again, well done mate.
anyone know how the points are looking from 1st jan?
He doesn’t do points you can tell from his write ups how much he fancies each horse a don’t know about just this month but since he starting posting a few months ago av won a small fortune he will be well in front.
Alan won’t be asked for points – my belief is you follow him you’ll make money.
Points are down to you but if you do level stakes on each tip you won’t go too far wrong.
Well done Alan I did the Rev fcast with JohnB instead of picking 1 over the other. Looks like a lucky 15 on yours and JohnB for the remainder of the day.
Good luck to all.
JohnB I too was homeless many years ago, people believe that it’s all druggies and drunks that are homeless they couldn’t be further from the truth. I had a torrid time, but one of my family members never gave up on me,found me in Blackpool by chance and took me home.
There but for the grace of God go I.
RIP Darren.
Jazzerhoy am surprised you done the forecast after Alan’s write up.
Billyboy he thought the fav was well in and said stamina may be an issue.
I took the chance it wasn’t going to be with JohnB tipping it also I thought it was a good bet. But wasn’t to be but well done you sir on your lay and the wager on the winner.?
Just noticed the Irish tip will add that now for a lucky 31 instead.
