FLEETWOOD JACK (2.25) did us a good turn over course and distance last month and a 6lb penalty won’t stop a repeat performance with the track sure to ride soft after yesterday’s persistent rain.

David O’Meara’s three-year-old powered clear of fancied Tesko Fella and Fleetwood Jack’s earlier fifth to Whatsthemessage at Thirsk has been made to look pretty decent.

GUISHAN (4.45) can defy top weight in a competitive renewal of the Flower Of Scotland Fillies’ Handicap.

Mick Appleby’s mare performed a minor miracle to win from stall 11 over Chester’s turning five furlongs and Guishan had earlier sluiced through the mud at Nottingham to score by five lengths. She is a course and distance winner and stall six is fine.

WHAT WONDERS WEAVE (3.00) is somewhat surprisingly dropped into a seller by Pat Shanahan and his filly should take the beating.

She won her maiden here over a mile back in May and stayed on into a well beaten third over 1m 3f behind Hugo Palmer’s Qavity Cash and in-form Archis Affaire. What Wonders Weave contested the Betfred Ladies Derby at Newbury (soft), leading three out before fading into fifth spot behind the smart Mam’selle. Rowan Scott takes off 5lb which is another bonus.

Character Onesie has been running consistently well without winning for some time and Richard Fahey has his string in tip-top condition.

PADDY’S ROCK (5.20) is another mud-lover and only failed by a head to catch Mick The Poser here last month, with Highway Robber a bit disappointing in fifth.

Paddy’s Rock pipped The New Pharaoh on softish ground at Doncaster with today’s top weight Dream Free seven lengths adrift in third. He should confirm the form on 6lb worse terms.

Champagne Rules was a running-on third over 1m 2f at Nottingham and should appreciate this extra yardage.

Last but by no means least at Hamilton is STATE SOVEREIGNTY (5.55).

Michael Scudamore’s five-year-old moves into handicap company off a fairly high mark following a facile victory at Catterick by no less than 19 lengths but she is mare on an upward curve.

Her earlier Ripon second to the William Haggas-trained Tarte Tropezienne was boosted when that horse chased home Ralph Beckett’s 81-rated Camerone at Bath and State Sovereignty handled soft ground in bumpers earlier in her career so there are no fears on that score.

Indian Chief’s second to Taxmeifyoucan sets a decent standard and he’s the one to beat.

There is a very interesting stayers’ handicap at Goodwood and AURORA GRAY (3.50) has shown a liking for the track, chasing home Cool Sky over 2m 4f early last month. Arthur MC Bride, an excellent runner-up to St Mary’s at Chester on Saturday, was three lengths adrift of Aurora Gray in third and looks held.

On her previous outing Aurora Gray cruised up to Jukebox Jive at Newbury but was just outbattled close home.
