BAYSTON HILL (7.25) should be worth the wait in the 1m 2f handicap at Bath this evening.
Bath is the only track in the country without a watering system, so the ground will be baking hard. This is no inconvenience to Bayston Hill as he won by two lengths over course and distance last May when the track was riding like a road. The top weight comes here on the back of a Lingfield success and Joshua Bryan’s 5lb claim helps negate a rise in the weights.
York isn’t for the faint-hearted with some really puzzling races on the opening day of the Dante meeting. WORLD ORDER (5.05) may be the safest wager as his second to flying filly No Lippy at Doncaster in April was given a boost when the winner justified strong market support at Chester last week.
DESERT DOCTOR (4.35) is a more adventurous selection in the 7f handicap.
Ed Walker’s top weight enjoyed plenty of success on the all-weather this winter and Desert Doctor produced a fine effort back on turf at Newmarket when running third to Maybride and Galloway Hills. Fifth horse Dragons Tail ran very well in defeat at Chester and Desert Doctor will go off an attractive each-way price against some unexposed rivals
