QUITE a tough Musselburgh card on paper but MY GIRL MAISIE (6.10) could well continue Richard Guest’s fine run of form.
His filly beat Tagur and Jack Blane over course and distance at the end of August and although the track was riding fast that day, My Girl Maisie came out to run Penny Pot Lane close at Pontefract on soft. She wasn’t disgraced on her most recent outing at Chelmsford City and this isn’t a strong event.
Circuitous scored over course and distance last October and ran an encouraging fifth at Carlisle last time. He wouldn’t want any more rain.
Schmooze continues to run well in defeat at Musselburgh and should be in the shake up. However, Linda Perratt’s charge finds it hard to win.
SOPHIE P (4.40) could be another winner for the fair sex having bounced back to form here over a mile when stretching two lengths clear of Peach Melba. The runner-up scored in decent company at the weekend, so Sophie P is entitled to go close under her penalty, especially with Connor Murtagh taking off 7lb. The more showers the better.
Penwortham travels well and has run two cracking races at Chester recently on soft ground. He would appreciate sitting off a strong gallop.
Muntadab makes his first trip to Musselburgh and is now 5lb higher than when beating War Glory at Chester. There isn’t much separating Muntadab and Explain on their Haydock running.
Rousayan races off his highest-ever mark following a brace of Beverley victories and he holds Dark Profit on one of these successes.
ROYAL ICON (4.10) ran Shambra to a neck at Carlisle and holds a couple of her rivals on that run. She had been campaigned around a mile by Kevin Ryan but the decision to step her up to 1m 3f on heavy ground almost paid immediate dividends. As long as that wasn’t a flash in the pan, Royal Icon must go well.
HAN SOLO BERGER (3.10) needs to bounce back from a poor effort at Carlisle when sent off a strong favourite on the back of his nose victory over Clubbable at Hamilton. Richard Fahey’s runner-up subsequently has been second in a couple of Class 2 handicaps at Doncaster and Newmarket off marks in the mid-70s, so Han Solo Berger isn’t badly treated.
Marchingtogether finished in the packed at Royal Ascot when contesting the Windsor Castle Stakes on the back of her Leicester success in May. She flopped at Chelmsford City last time and is another with a little bit to prove. This is a weaker event.
