CRYSTAL OCEAN (2.25) takes a dramatic step back in distance but should still be classy enough to land the Group 3 bet365 Gordon Richards Stakes at soggy Sandown.
Crystal Ocean is the quality horse in the 1m 2f contest having split Capri and Stradivarius in the St Leger, but whether he will be sharp enough on his seasonal debut at this much shorter distance is a mute point. However, he showed plenty of pace when spread-eagling his rivals in the 1m 4f Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and there is plenty of rain forecast which plays to his strengths.
Fabricate carries the Queen’s colours and will have fitness on his side following a recent Kempton victory in Listed company. This 10f seems to be his best trip.
In the Group 2 bet365 Mile, ADDEYBB (3.35) was so impressive in winning the Lincoln Handicap on soft ground that he may be worth chancing now taking a sharp rise in grade.
Another soft ground performer, Here Comes When, is the each-way alternative trading around 6-1 but William Haggas has been making bullish noises about Addeybb.
MERLIN MAGIC (1.50) has been given a chance by the handicapper in the bet365 Esher Cup.
David Elsworth’s Camelot colt landed a warm maiden at Nottingham last October, making all to beat Sam Gold and Sevenna Star (well touted in the Classic Trial at 3.00). Merlin Magic was then pitched into Group 1 company and wasn’t disgraced (ninth) behind Saxon Warrior in the Racing Post Trophy at Donny.
His official mark of 88 catches the eye and Elsworth has booked Silvestre De Sousa, who was on top for that Nottingham success last autumn.
Hot favourite Kings Shield has won both his starts on the all-weather and could be anything. There are some heavy showers forecast for the Esher area so quite how effective he will prove on soft ground is anybody’s guess.
DIAMOND DOUGAL (4.05) scored with plenty in hand at Bath last Friday and should make a bold bid to follow up under his 6lb penalty. Franny Norton is a good booking.
At Doncaster, KNIGHTLY SPIRIT (1.40) can continue Roger Varian’s bright start to the season by landing the opening 1m 2f handicap.
He was just over a length behind Ship Of The Fen when they occupied the places at Goodwood and enjoys a 7lb pull at the weights.

Thanks for the tips you two ?terrific
Sad to hear of the death of 13 year old cantlow in today’s cross country race.
Had come 2nd in the race last 2 years.
He ran a brave 5th today then sadly had a heart attack.
I feel for connections at times like this, very sad.
Too many horses have died recently Elvis. 3 horses died in Hexam earlier in the week, all in the same day, mainly down to the temperature on the day 27 degrees. Im not an equine expert, but I’m aware that horses core temperature can reach dangerously high levels after a race in hot weather.
The process in the emerald isle of throwing water over a horse, and trotting straight in from the track to the parade ring serves no purpose whatsoever in my opinion.
If anything it may make a bad situation worse. France seem to be the only country who do things correctly. The jockeys in France trot the horses for up to 4 or 5 minutes after racing to allow the horse core body temperature to cool down. Suffice to say, France would most likely have a lower horse fatality rate compared to all of the emerald isle.
Ok. it was under my comment I thought you were having a go. Personally, I think Elvis is right in what he says
No worries apologie accepted.
Can you stop asking daft questions please.

Will Sam Crow even run given willie looks all set for trainers title again.
Giggintown rarely run in bumbers and novices out of novice company, Micheal O’Leary surely won’t won’t want Sam crow stretched all out for a fight that’s almost gone given the runner opposing Elliots mares arsenal.

The more i watch punchestown the more i notice that something needs to be done within the rules set out, to stop it being almost guess work betting when mullins smashes out multiple entries, with little or no form for months or even into years.
The stable tours give you almost nothing in regards to future info, just its likely race[often known anyhow].
That is useless info and it’s the same his last 5 or so stable tours.
Willie gives hardly any info to public[maybe matt chapman gets a little more than most] nothing !, then pops up with a horse you hope john b or someone tipping has watched in schooling session, or the public is in the dark.
100 horses max per trainer and max entries 3 per race ??
erryesno, if every trainer was limited to 100 horses in training racing would not be as competitive as it is, and less enjoyable to watch. I get what your saying though, in that the best horses are generally with Mullins and Elliot, O Brien and the Sheiks.
Anyone who heard Willie Mullins interview after Faugheen won in Punchestown would have been surprised. Mullins said his last piece of work was so slow, himself and Ruby Walsh could not believe what they were watching, and then Faugheen goes and wins like he does.
Horses can make fools of humans, regardless of what a trainer says during a stable tour.
Well it’s safe to say punchestown has been awful for me so far so here’s a few more to avoid today
