COMPATRIAT (5.40) is an interesting runner in the opener at Wolverhampton.
The four-year-old was campaigned over a mile in Ireland when trained by John Joseph Murphy but has since been shipped out to Olly Murphy.
The red-hot trainer has wasted no time in stepping Compatriat up to 1m 4f and this son of Derby winner Pour Moi may well improve significantly for middle distances. Top Irish amateur Lisa O'Neill has been booked and the early 9-4 didn't last long.
If Compatriat is trading too short for your taste then top weight Frozon could be the each-way alternative. He is a dual course and distance winner and Simon Walker has been booked for the 8-1 shot.
BARNABY BROOK (8.40) is another dual course winner and ran an encouraging fourth to in-form King Kevin last time under an inexperienced apprentice. Tom Dascombe's gelding should go well at an each-way price.
