Alan Thomson’s Racing Tips: Mujassem will take some stopping at Hamilton

MUJASSEM (7.00) has been an irresistible force lately and may be able to carry the welter burden of 10st 7lb to another victory at Hamilton.

David O’Meara’s gelding romped home over course and distance last month and took the step up to seven furlongs in his stride when accounting for Twin Appeal at Musselburgh. Mujassem is up another 3lb but is clearly thriving this summer.

The O’Meara yard could saddle a winner earlier on the card courtesy of ALSVINDER (6.30), raised 4lb for his gutsy course success over Big Lachie in a driving finish. With the stable going well, I’d also expect a big run from VIGEE LE BRUN (8.30) in a tight, low-grade handicap. She has been dropped a couple of pounds following her well-beaten third to wide-margin winner Raven Banner at Donny.

MORTICIA (9.00) was a late absentee at the last Hamilton fixture and Keith Dalgleish looks to have cherry-picked the perfect race for the three-year-old to lose her maiden tag.

THEGLASGOWWARRIOR (7.30) can outrun his odds in the 1m 4f handicap, with Godolphin raider Killdeer the one to beat.

There is sure to be plenty of pace as Multellie, Sebastian’s Wish and Killdeer have a tendency to race prominently. That could play into the hands of a hold-up performer like Theglasgowwarrior, a course winner in May when beating in-form Jabbaar and Mutadaffeq. It is best to ignore his last run at Carlisle when he got messed about and he is the each-way punt.

Killdeer’s second to Thimblewood in a Salisbury maiden was a promising effort and Saeed bin Suroor does well with his Hamilton runners.

BLUE HAVANA (8.00) ran a fine race at Ripon when third to Airplane and Olympic Odyssey, the front three stretching 17 lengths clear of the remainder. John Quinn’s three-year-old filly could be on the upgrade.
