BREAKING WAVES is an interesting recruit to the hurdling ranks at Ascot this afternoon following an excellent bumper run at Cheltenham last month. Despite hugging the churned ground on the rails throughout, Breaking Waves was still in with a shout racing up the hill until Strong Gale and Master Debonair pulled clear close home. Master Debonair franked the form by winning last Sunday’s bumper at Cheltenham.

WENYERREADYFREDDIE jumped like an old hand when thrashing the opposition over course and distance almost three weeks ago and although Nicky Henderson’s gelding meets some promising types, he is fancied to concede weight all round under similar ground conditions.

BREXITMEANSBREXIT wins the vote in a competitive 1m 4f handicap. Stall nine is a bit of a stinker on the wide outside and Sean Levey will probably decide to tuck in. Brexitmeansbrexit will need some luck in running but he stayed on nicely into fourth behind Victory Chime here over a furlong shorter 44 days ago. Runner-up Pipes Of Peace trounced useful Buzz earlier in the week off a 3lb higher mark but the handicapper has left my selection untouched.
