Alan Thomson’s Racing Tips: Lady can strike it lucky at Ponteract

LADY ANNALEE (4.30) could do as well as expected against odds-on Baritone on her last visit to Pontefract but is poised to go one better in the 1m 4f maiden.

Karl Burke’s filly had shown promise previously at Wetherby and Hamilton and may have the legs of consistent Beer With The Boys. 

ROYAL FLAG (5.00) mugged The Knot Is Tied right on the line at Ayr and attempts to follow-up over an extra three furlongs. That form looks a shade stronger than Bodacious Name’s course and distance victory over So Near So Farhh, with that pair re-opposing. So Near So Farhh was hampered at a crucial stage and she is probably the main danger. 

Two horses which ran well in defeat last Friday are turned out again quickly at Windsor. CROWNTHORPE (4.10) was pipped by Alemaratalyoum at Haydock and clearly handles soft ground well, while THE GROOVE (4.40) wasn’t beaten far (fourth) in what looked a stronger race at Redcar. 

At Kempton, EARLY SUMMER (8.10) is well worth an interest. Hughie Morrison’s daughter of Sea The Stars was no match for Nicky Henderson’s classy hurdler Verdana Blue (easy winner yesterday) at Chelmsford City but finished ahead of a Simon Crisford and John Gosden pair.
