DUTCH MONARCH (6.10) is already a course and distance winner at Wolverhampton and she is solid bet returning to the track this evening.
Sir Mark Prescott’s filly got the better of Real Estate in mid-July and the fourth horse (beaten more than 10 lengths) won at Haydock last week.
REAL ESTATE (8.10) contests the Class 4 handicap over a mile later on the card and a good show from Dutch Monarch would strengthen his claims in a better event.
At Ripon, where rain is forecast, RESTIVE SPIRIT (3.25) wasn’t beaten far when fifth to Vale Of Kent in a competitive handicap at Goodwood. The William Haggas-trained gelding was an easy course and distance winner on his previous start and may have the measure of front-running Three Saints Bay, up 6lb for his latest Beverley success.
BREATHABLE (3.55) handled soft ground at Beverley under a positive ride in an amateur event and Tim Easterby’s three-year-old could improve again over this longer trip in an open little handicap.
At a big price, POLAR FOREST (4.30) could outrun his odds in the apprentices’ handicap. He drops back to a mile off a very low mark and Richard Guest’s horses have been going well of late.
