ALAN is back with four bets from Monday's meeting at Ayr where Discay looks a value shout in the second last.

Ayr 4.25

DISCAY represents a bit of value in a competitive 2m 4f handicap hurdle on Ayr’s interesting Monday card.

Phil Kirby’s gelding caused a 33-1 upset at Wetherby’s Christmas fixture but proved that was no fluke when chasing home Graeme McPherson’s Daydream Aulmes at Huntingdon last month. Fifth horse Black Buble was 17 lengths adrift but came out to land some nice bets at Ludlow last week.

Fergal O’Brien sends Liosduin Bhearna north for his handicap debut after a solid second to Samburu Shujaa at Chepstow in mid-January, with the winner following up at the weekend. His Uttoxeter bumper third to Umbrigado in November was made to look better when the winner won a fairly hot event at Warwick three days ago.

Gordon Elliott sent out four winners at the last Ayr fixture and is represented by point winner Three Kings. The betting market will be informative.

Ayr 1.50

NORTHERN SOUL was no match for former useful Flat handicapper Erik The Red at Kelso but was conceding 6lb to the winner. The sharp two miles seemed to find him out as well and today’s extra three furlongs should suit much better.

Elliott’s Western Honour, running in the Cheveley Park Stud colours, was a Clonmel winner in early December and should play a prominent role.

Ayr 2.50

SEEMINGLY SO is part of a strong Olly Murphy raiding party and looks the one to beat if his stamina lasts out in the three-mile handicap hurdle. His fourth to Earlofthecotswolds at Market Rasen was a solid run. Nick Alexander’s Landecker won well at Kelso but reserves his best for the Borders track, while stablemate Craiganboy is very consistent at Ayr.

Ayr 3.20

WESTLAND ROW was in the process of running a fine race when coming down two out at Navan last month, while his second to Jessica Harrington’s Moonshine Bay at Thurles in December reads well enough to make him competitive in the three-mile novices’ chase. Kim Bailey’s Dandy Dan, a dual winner on decent ground in October, returns from a break with an obvious chance.

ChooChooBugaloo is up 14lbs to his highest ever rating since winning off 78 by 10 lengths. He has next to no form up untill his win besides going down by a nose to a recent chase winner over hurdles. May well win by another 10 but cannot advise a bet at 6/4 based on what we have to go on.

Nikolsson has no data to go on, besides what you are told, which may well be more than enough. HOWEVER, he is up against one of my favourite owner/trainer combo’s. The Dalgleish horse came 2nd on its first start, 2nd to a horse that had already won and beat a horse which went on to win next time out, then you have to add the fact this time out, the horse has a 7lb claimer on… so for me that is another ultra skinny price given what he is up against.
