ALAN is backing Bond Angel to leave rivals shaken and stirred on Sunday and also takes us through the Kelso card with selections for all seven races.
Southwell 2.30
BOND ANGEL has really taken to the Fibresand surface at Southwell and is fancied to complete a quick hat-trick. The filly is up another 4lb for her New Year’s Day victory and Bond Angel can confirm places with third-home Thunder Buddy when they clashed last month over the shorter 7f trip.
Kelso 12.30
SKANDIBURG duly stepped up on his promising Wetherby debut by landing the odds at Fakenham. It was a workmanlike rather than scintillating performance but this longer trip looks sure to suit at Kelso.
Kelso 1.0
LORD YEATS was a useful middle-distance performer on the Flat, scooping the Listed Fred Archer Stakes at Newmarket in July, and Jedd O’Keefe’s gelding looked a natural over hurdles when demolishing an admittedly modest bunch at Sedgefield.
The formbook points to a difficult task as he has more than three lengths to bridge with Encore Champs on their Wetherby run in late November but Lord Yeats is entitled to have improved from that debut effort.
Kelso 1.35
DIAMOND KING holds the key to the two-mile handicap hurdle. Winner of the 2016 Coral Cup at Cheltenham for Gordon Elliott, the 11-year-old has his first start for Olly Murphy.
Diamond King was pulled up on his final outing in Ireland 260 days ago and it remains to be seen just how much ability he retains.
Three of his rivals race from out of the handicap, so that leaves Prince Charmin’ as the only other runner running off his proper rating. The betting market will be worth watching for clues as to expectations.
Kelso 2.05
MOUNT MEWS has won on all three visits to Kelso and if stripping fit for his comeback run following a 305-day absence will take some stopping in the 2m 5f handicap chase.
The eight-year-old was well handled by the Jefferson family but now makes his debut for Donald McCain on the back of a fine third to classy Black Corton and Ms Parfois in the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase at Ascot.
Sandy Thomson has Dimple in great shape and the eight-year-old made mincemeat of his rivals here over hurdles at the end of December. He must race off a 13lb higher mark back over the larger obstacles.
Kelso 2.40
BRACKA LILY makes the trip from Ireland and her close second to British Art at Down Royal on Boxing Day was boosted when the winner went down by a neck at Clonmel three days ago off a higher mark.
Kelso 3.10
LOUGH DERG JEWEL took the measure of his only serious rival Sir Mangan at Doncaster, clearly appreciating the good ground he will encounter today. A 4lb rise is fair enough.
Kelso 3.40
ACHILL ROAD BOY has been found a weak handicap chase and can score in first-time blinkers for 5lb claimer Sam Coltherd.

Bracka Lily – tipped up but for what reason? 2nd in Ireland with a 4lb claimer off 83 having come practically last in every other race… he comes over to England and races off 92 with a 3lb claim, having PU off 91 in Ayr… can’t see much reason to back it myself.
Achille Road Boy has had a claimer taking off 5lbs on his last 6 races, NOT TODAY. he won without a claimer off 91, today he runs off 96, just a word of warning to look twice before following tips blindly.
well that is just how it always seems to go for me, alan’s only winner and it is the only 1 i didn’t want to win, great.
Last time out he was beaten by Spanish Art by 3/4L who went on to Frank the form being 2nd to a well h’capped one and both pulled 20L clear of the 3rd.
Enough reason for me to back it but obviously didn’t come off.
Not a dig at you DC, just a discussion point and hopefully a reminder to people not to bet blind, actually gain a bit of understanding or save your money.
How do you mean the form was franked?? British Art had 2 subsequent runs after beating Bracka, 8th of 19 which didn’t frank anything.
He was then 2nd off 98 over 3 furlong more than today’s race, beaten by Danse Away, that horse has had 6 runs since October, 3 hurdles 3 chases. Today was a hurdles race. 4th of 19 off 101, 17 of 23 off 102 and 3 days ago beating British Art off of 101. Before that the horse had 7 hurdles races in a row, winning off a highest mark of 88, 13lbs lower.
I suppose by franked you must have been looking at his chase form?? 4th of 18 off 102, 1st of 8 off 110 and 2nd of 10 off 117.
Don’t really see much correlation at all between the form, you are crossing flat racing with hurdles, pulling in a 3rd horse who doesn’t actually have great hurdle form, the distance was 3f different and the horse had travelled over from Ireland and got a rating around 10lbs higher…
Database
No issue with having a chat either. But I was looking at Hurdle form not Chase.
British Art was beaten 3/4L by Danse Away who was running off a 16lb lower mark over hurdles than chase. The 2 pulled 20L clear of the 3rd.
Yes it was over 3f further but still franked imo.
Anyway, it didn’t work out and was probably a bad bet in the end but we can only try.
Onto tomorrow
yep ok mate, i think discussion is the only way to progress, i have no doubt you have forgotten more than I know, and have contributed more to this site than I ever will so as long as it’s all taken well. bol for the week coming
