ARTARMON (2.40) has been found the ideal opportunity to break his maiden tag when lining up at Catterick this afternoon.
Michael Bell’s gelding chased home the John Gosden-trained Surya at Newcastle and third horse Zilara won at Wolverhampton on Monday. Artarmon had earlier run fourth to Ghostwatch at Sandown and that looks the best piece of form on display. He wears a visor for the first time.
KITTILEO (4.10) can take full advantage of his three-year-old allowance in the stayers’ handicap. Mark Johnston’s colt, a son of Galileo, has been a bit disappointing but his fourth to Elysees at Sandown was a fair effort. The assessor has dropped him 2lb.
TROUBLE AND STRIFE (3.00) has been well entered up by Sir Mark Prescott since her return to action at Lingfield 11 days when second to favourite Life On Earth. She missed five engagements last week but is let off the leash back over course and distance. The handicapper has raised Trouble And Strife 2lb in the interim but she was hardly knocked about last time and is open to plenty of improvement.
BAILARICO (3.30) has mopped up three races on fast ground so far this summer and a 3lb rise for his latest Nottingham success is by no means harsh. The horse he beat at the Midlands track, Ravenous, gave Tapis Libre a real fight at Epsom last week and Warren Greatrex’s gelding can complete his four-timer.
