Agincourt can win the battle at York

It was a good day yesterday at York with Eddystone Rock winning nicely and it could have been even better had Crystal Ocean not been beaten in a photo by Japan. 

Today I have 5 selections for us to get our teeth into. The only race of the 6 that I don’t have a bet in is the 3.35pm where I expect Enable to win but 2/7 is no sort of price for us to be getting involved with. There are some nice big fields today so plenty of good prices available and as always be sure to take advantage of the extra places that many bookies offer. It is often the difference between a loser and a nice bit of profit.

1.55pm York

Liberty Beach and Under the Stars are both class acts by the look of things but with 2 year olds so much can change so quickly and they are both a bit short for a bet for me in the circumstances. Liberty Beach has to prove that she is effective over 6f so 6/4 is certainly a bit neat for her. The one that interests me is LIVING IN THE PAST who despite finishing 3rd to Under the Stars last time was only beaten about 3/4 of a length. She could well improve for that run and 12-1 is a very generous price, particularly with extra places on offer.

2.25pm York

This is a wide open race with plenty of contenders. I thought SWORD BEACH ran a cracker last time at Goodwood in a good race won by Governor of Punjab. He wasn’t drawn particularly well and was very close to winning the race. He looks like good value to me with a few firms paying 4 places each way.

3.00pm York

Another fascinating race here where I am drawn to Baltic Baron and Qaysar as potential winners but the one I like most is WAFY. He was 2nd last time out to Qaysar and has been kept on the same mark by the handicapper so is weighted to reverse that form. Today he has a jockey change with Andrea Azeni on board which is probably a slight positive in my book and I think he can go close at a big price.

4.15pm York

The only favourite I’m backing today is SEARCH FOR A SONG who was 4th in the Irish Oaks and is clear of most of these on official figures. I can see her winning this one quite readily today and I’m surprised that we can get 5/2 with the bookies.

4.50pm York

Last but not least is AGINCOURT in the last race of the day. This filly has been improving and finished third in a good listed race last time out in July. She is in ideal hands with O’Meara and Tudhope and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a bit of a gamble on her later too. Although Mubtasimah’s form is very strong I can’t leave Agincourt unbacked at the current prices and once again we are getting extra places for our each way bets so take advantage.
