SATURDAY brings a nice selection of quality racing at Newbury and Newmarket. I have two selections from the Newbury races, both of which will be televised live on ITV racing.
1.50pm Newbury
The opening race on the Newbury card is a competitive one with several progressive three year olds at the head of the market. The one that I think has been underestimated is KURIOUS who ran a solid race in last year’s Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, cutting out the running and just being unable to stay on. A year on from that I think 6 furlongs will suit perfectly and this race and doesn’t have the same quality of that Queen Mary. He had a nice run for his season opener last time and was staying on nicely into 2nd behind a really smart horse. He looks lovely value here today.
3.00pm Newbury
GOOD BIRTHDAY is the one I like in this race. He won last time despite looking like he was still learning on the job. He is definitely a horse to follow this season and I would have him much shorter in the market for this.
