The first major final of 2020 takes centre-stage on Friday evening with the final of the Coral Essex Vase the highlight of a fabulous 12-race card at Romford.
Run over a distance of 575 metres, the contest was first run in 1939 and boasts a prize fund of £10,000.
Recent winners include Adageo Bob, Bubbly Torpedo, Murrys Act and Droopys Aoife. The 2020 renewal was won by Kimessan Puma. We have previewed the semi-finals with our best bets for all of the action, which includes our NAP and Next Best.
6.09 Romford: Quivers Rocco (Trap Two)
An impressive winner on his debut for Nathan Hunt, things failed to go to plan last week when he met trouble in running. However, he remains open to plenty of improvement and remains unexposed.
6.28 Romford: Miss Shelby (Trap Six)
Always beware a bitch in form and Miss Shelby has to be respected following three straight wins at the track. She has looked electric from the boxes of late and makes plenty of appeal to once again handle another step up in grade.
6.43 Romford: Aero Rackitup (Trap Two)
A talented dog who was unlucky last time out. He was bumped early after being slow away and that was clearly not his true showing. This drawn looks ideal and he has leading claims here.
6.58 Romford: Malton Manor (Trap Six)
Shaped well when chinned on the line last week. A reproduction of that effort would make him very tough to beat.
7.18 Romford: Mohort Bob (Trap Three)
Bounced back to form with a gutsy success from the front. He clearly needs to break well again, but he has proved quick away from the boxes before and makes appeal here.
7.36 Romford: Droopys Flight (Trap Five)
There have been signs that he boasts plenty of ability and he stayed on strongly to finish third last time out. His trainer is adamant that there is plenty more to come from this son of Ballymac Eske and he is given another chance switching back to a middle draw.
7.56 Romford: Innfield Kaci (Trap Two)
Was far from disgraced when chasing home Goldies Hoddle at the track last week. She returned to winning ways at his native Henlow, but there’s more to come from this bitch in this grade.
8.17 Romford: Seaglass Shannon (Trap Four)
Unbeaten in her last two starts where she displayed a good attitude to score close home. That effort was very impressive given the wat she battled back to score. This demands more, but she looks capable of further improvement.
8.38 Romford: Goldies Hoddle (Trap Three)
What a talent. One of the races this evening is named in his honour after a fantastic 2020 and he bids for a fourth straight win at his beloved Romford. He was magnificent last week when scoring in sumptuous fashion and from a draw which suits, he makes plenty of appeal to complete the four-timer.
8.54 Romford: Droopys Aoife (Trap One)
A fabulous renewal of the Coral Essex Vase final. Droopys Aoife was impressive in her semi-final and has a perfect drawn in trap one. If she can break sharply, she could be very tough to peg back. Sparta Master showed electric pace from the boxes last week and is feared along with Antigua Rum who will be staying on strongly at the finish.
9.12 Romford: Ivy Hill Skyhigh (Trap Three)
The hope is that Ivy Hill Skyhigh can rediscover his best form. He made the semi-finals of the Essex Vase, but was ultimately disappointing in the semi-final when slow away and well-beaten into fifth. Goldies Greaves is a massive danger in trap four, but this is hist first start at the track and this looks a good opportunity for Mark Wallis’ dog to rediscover his best form.
9.28 Romford: Newinn Liz (Trap Six)
Newinn Liz is another Romford specialist and she was far from disgraced when third in her Essex Vase semi-final last week. She can return to winning ways in the finale.
