Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the Portuguese Primeira Liga and in particular the top two. I’m back both sides to claim all three points to give us a solid double.

Arouca vs Porto

🇵🇹 Primeira Liga

⏰ Sunday 6th February, 18:00

Porto will look to keep up their great form as they travel to the Estádio Municipal to take on Arouca. The visitors are currently six points clear of second-placed Sporting CP, will the hosts are 15th, just a point above the relegation playoff spot and two from the relegation zone.

Arouca failed to make it back-to-back wins last time out, as they drew 0-0 away at fellow strugglers Famalicão. Since December, Armando Evangelista’s side have managed to collect just five points out of a possible 24, conceding 18 goals in the process. Arouca’s three wins at home this season have all came against sides round about them in the table, with them already losing against Sporting CP, Benfica and Braga, the three sides directly below Porto in the table. Only bottom side Belenenses have conceded more goals in the league at home than Arouca, with the Arouquenses conceding 20 times in just nine matches at the Estádio Municipal.

Porto kept up their impressive winning run last time out, as they defeated Marítimo at the Dragão. That’s now 15 consecutive wins in the Primeira Liga for Porto, with Sergio Conceição’s side dropping just four points so far this season. Porto have the second best defence in the division, conceding on just 14 occasions this season, one more than reigning champions Sporting CP. Porto have the joint-best attack in the division, scoring 53 goals in just 20 matches, with 26 of them coming on the road.

Sporting CP vs Famalicão

🇵🇹 Primeira Liga

⏰ Sunday 6th February, 20:30

Sporting CP will look to try and keep pace with league leaders Porto, as they host Famalicão at the José Alvalade. The hosts could be nine points behind Porto come kick-off, whilst the visitors currently occupy the relegation playoff spot and are just point above the relegation zone.

Sporting CP managed to build on their triumph over Benfica in the final of Taça da Liga, as they swept away bottom side Belenenses 1-4. Sporting have won 13 of their last 15 matches in the Primeira Liga, but they have lost two of their last four, including a stoppage time defeat at home to Braga in their last home fixture. The Lions have won nine of their 11 matches against sides currently positioned in the bottom-half, including all six at home, keeping a clean sheet in each of those victories.

Famalicão were left disappointed last time out, as they were held to a goalless draw against fellow relegation rivals Arouca, meaning it’s now just one win in their last nine in the Primeira Liga for Rui Pedro Silva’s side. Famalicão have won just three times this season and all bar three of their 14 points have come against sides currently positioned in the bottom-half. No side has conceded more goals on their travels than Famalicão, with the Vila Nova conceding 22 goals in their 10 matches, conceding two or more in nine of them.

Bet of the Day

Porto travel to the Estádio Municipal in scintillating form, winning each of their last 15 in the Primeira Liga and they should be able to claim another three points against a struggling Arouca side that’s won just one of their last eight in the league. Arouca have won of the worst defensive records in the division and given Porto have scored on multiple occasions in 17/20 in the league, I’m happy to throw in over 1.5 Porto goals, alongside the victory. Sporting can ill-afford to drop any more points in their pursuit of league leaders Porto as they host strugglers Famalicão at the José Alvalade. Rúben Amorim’s men have won 13 of their last 15 in the Primeira Liga and should be too strong for a Famalicão side that’s won just one of their last nine in the Primeira Liga and who have the worst defensive record away from home in the league.
