Racing Santander will aim to go top of the Spanish Segunda table for a few hours at least tomorrow afternoon as they travel to the Estadio El Molinon to take on Sporting Gijon in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Los Rojiblancos have only failed to score away at leaders Deportivo La Coruna this season – notching on multiple occasions in 3/4 (75%) of their home contests – and will look to trouble a Racing defence that has kept a solitary shutout this campaign, shipping 2+ goals in five of their last seven.
Jose Alberto’s visitors are the leading scorers in the Spanish second tier this term, firing in 21 goals across their opening eight matches, with eight (38%) of them coming across their three road trips.
Los Verdiblancos have found the back of the net in each of their opening eight Segunda encounters this season – scoring 2+ goals in seven (88%) of them, and even 3+ in an impressive six (75%) – and will be confident of continuing their extraordinary form in front of goal against a Sporting Gijon defence that is without a clean sheet in each of their last five matches, shipping 13 goals.

Goals are almost always guaranteed when Racing Santander are involved, and I’m expecting the goals to flow in Asturias tomorrow afternoon.
