Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me delve into the Norwegian Eliteserien and there’s one fixture in particular that stands out to me for goals.
Rosenborg vs Vålerenga
🇳🇴 Eliteserien
⏰ Sunday 9th October, 18:00
In what is no doubt the game of the weekend in the Norwegian Eliteserien, Rosenborg face Vålerenga at the Lerkendal Stadion in a match between two clubs fighting for European qualification.
Rosenborg dropped points for the third successive away game last Sunday, as they conceded late on to draw 4-4 with Kristiansund in what was an incredible game of football. Kjetil Rekdal’s side are a different animal on home turf, with his team having W9-D2-L0 at home this season – the best home record in the division. Rosenborg have scored on multiple occasions in each of their last nine home matches, remarkably scoring three or more in seven of those encounters. However, the Trondheim-based club are without a clean sheet in each of their last nine Eliteserien matches, with them also conceding in seven of their last eight at home.
Vålerenga followed up their 4-0 victory at home to Sandefjord by also defeating Strømsgodset 4-0 in front of their supporters last Saturday. After losing five of their opening six fixtures on their travels this season, Dag-Eilev Fagermo’s men were then unbeaten in their next five away before losing 3-2 at Kristiansund in their last away fixture. Vålerenga have conceded 22 goals in their 12 games on their travels this season, with their only clean sheet coming against bottom side Jerv. The capital club have found the back of the net in each of their last 12 Eliteserien matches, notching on multiple occasions in nine of those.
Bet of the Day
Vålerenga come into this fixture absolutely flying, with Dag-Eilev Fagermo’s men having won 10 and lost just one of their last 12 fixtures but face the ultimate test travelling to Lerkendal on Sunday. The Trondheim-based club have the best home record in the Norwegian top-flight, with them remaining unbeaten after 12 matches and come into this fixture winning each of their last seven.
Kjetil Rekdal’s hosts have scored at least twice in each of their last nine games at their Trondheim base and even more remarkably scoring three or more in seven of those matches, meaning I’m more than happy to back them to score at least twice against a Vålerenga defence that’s only clean sheet on the road this season came against bottom-side Jerv. However, Rosenborg have conceded in each of their last nine and given that Vålerenga have scored in each of their 12 matches, there’s a strong chance they’ll also contribute to the goals tally in what should be a cracking match.
