Thursdays Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the Conference League playoffs and in particular, two sides who failed to win their first legs but who I’m expecting to comfortably defeat their opponents at home.

Bodø/Glimt vs Žalgiris

🇪🇺 UEFA Conference League

⏰ Thursday 26th August, 17:00

Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt host Lithuanian champions Žalgiris in the second leg of their Conference League playoff at the Aspmyra Stadion. The tie is still in the balance as the first leg finished 2-2 last week in Vilnius.

Bodø come into this second leg after defeating Kristiansund 3-0 at the weekend. That victory now makes in 8 wins in 12 competitive matches at home this season. In all eight of those victories, Bodø have scored at least two goals. In last years Europa League qualifiers, Bodø defeated both Lithuanian sides Kauno Žalgiris and Žaligiris themselves, 6-1 and 3-1 respectively at Thursday nights venue.

Žalgiris come into this second leg drawing 1-1 away to Hegelmann Litauen in the league at the weekend. After defeating Northern Irish champions Linfield home and away, Žalgiris were knocked out of the Champions League by Ferencváros, losing both the home and away legs 1-3 and 2-0. The Lithuanians also failed to win away to Slovenian side Mura as they were knocked out of the Europa League. Žalgiris lost 3-1 last season as they were knocked out of the Europa League by Bodø/Glimt.

Tottenham vs Paços de Ferreira

🇪🇺 UEFA Conference League

⏰ Thursday 26th August, 19:45

Spurs host Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira In the second leg of their Conference League playoff at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Portuguese side travel to North London with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg last week.

Nuno and Tottenham have made an impressive start to the Premier League by defeating both Manchester City (1-0) and Wolves (0-1). Tottenham were excellent in last years Europa League at home as they won all six matches. They scored a total of 22 goals in those victories, scoring 2+ in all of those wins.

Paços de Ferreira come into this suffering a 1-3 defeat at home to newly promoted Estoril despite taking the lead. That’s now back to back defeats for the Portuguese side in Liga NOS as they lost 3-0 to Boavista prior to the first leg. Last season in the league, Paços only won 5 of their 17 away games losing 7 including defeats to ‘the big 3’.

Bet of the Day

In Norway, I’m expecting Bodø to show their extra quality and defeat Žalgiris on their plastic pitch just like they did last year. Bodø are strong at home and usually score plenty. Despite losing the first leg in Portugal last week, I’m backing Spurs to comfortably defeat poor travelers Paços and qualify for the group stages.

  • Bodø/Glimt to win & over 1.5 goals
  • Tottenham to win & over 1.5 goals
  • Double Pays 51/50 (Bet Victor)

    Bodø/Glimt to win & o1.5 ❎ (1-0)
    Tottenham to win & o1.5 ✅ (3-0)

Both teams win but Bodø/Glimt could only manage the 1 goal to down the double 👎🏼
