Saturdays Football Bet of the Day see’s me stay in Britain for both selections. First up, Liverpool should be too strong at home to Crystal Palace. Then, Hibs should edge out a goal-shy St Mirren side at home.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Premier League

⏰ Saturday 18th September, 15:00

Liverpool host Crystal Palace at Anfield this afternoon. The hosts are joint top top after making an unbeaten start whereas the visitors lie in 11th.

Liverpool kicked off their Champions League campaign with an entertaining 3-2 win over AC Milan. Liverpool were by far the better team and comfortably defeated Leeds 0-3 in which the margin of victory could’ve been greater. That’s now nine league goals scored in their first four fixtures, with only European Champions Chelsea stopping Liverpool collecting all three points. Liverpool won both league meetings last season by an aggregate score of 9-0.

Patrick Vieira got his first win as Crystal Palace manager last time out by defeating 10 man Spurs 3-0. That’s now three games unbeaten for the Eagles as they had previously drawn with West Ham and newly promoted Brentford. Palace did however get well beaten by Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge, a side that will be battling for the title with opponents Liverpool. Palace have lost on their last four visits to Anfield, conceding 11 goals.

Hibs vs St Mirren

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Premiership

⏰ Saturday 18th September, 15:00

St Mirren travel to the capital to take on Hibs at Easter Road this afternoon. St Mirren lie in 9th and are five points off the top half akready. Hibs meanwhile know a win will at least take them too temporarily.

Hibs come into this after drawing the first Edinburgh derby of the season 0-0 at Tynecastle. Hibs are still unbeaten so far this season, collecting 11 out of a possible 15. Hibs have been good at home so far this season, defeating both Livingston and Ross County as well as seeing off Kilmarnock in the League Cup. All three off those victories saw Hibs keep a clean sheet, with them scoring seven goals themselves. Hibs won all three games against St Mirren last season, including a 1-0 victory at Easter Road.

St Mirren come into this off the back of successive 0-0 draws at home to both Dundee United and St Johnstone. St Mirren are still winless this season and were thumped 6-0 by title chasing Celtic in their last away match. Scoring goals has been a big issue for the Paisley side, netting only on three occasions, with two of those coming in an opening day 2-2 draw against newly promoted Dundee.

Bet of the Day

Liverpool have made a good start to the season and should comfortably defeat a Crystal Palace side that don’t particularly enjoy their visits to Anfield. Hibs have also made a good start to the season and should collect all three points against a St Mirren they defeated three times last season and who struggle badly to score goals.

  • Liverpool to win & over 1.5 goals
  • Hibs to win
