Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Euros and specifically goals in Group C.

Ukraine vs North Macedonia

🇪🇺 Euro 2020

⏰ Thursday 17th June, 14:00

Ukraine and North Macedonia will kick off Thursdays action in Bucharest in the country’s National stadium. Both sides will be looking to bounce back from opening game defeats and claim a vital 3 points.

Ukraine come into this off the back of a 3-2 defeat to group favourites Holland. Ukraine were down 2-0 but produced an excellent comeback to make it 2-2 before Holland scored a late winner. Ukraine have plenty of attacking talent in their squad with both West Ham’s Yarmolenko and Gent’s Yaremchuk getting on the scoresheet against Holland. Ukraine would’ve earmarked this game for 3 points and they may have to score a minimum of 2 goals to earn all 3 points.

North Macedonia come into suffering a 3-1 defeat to Austria. They did give a good account of themselves and equalised through their maestro Goran Pandev. They did, however, concede 2 goals late on and know they’ll need to go for a positive result. North Macedonia are certainly capable of scoring but its defensively they struggle, especially against sides with more quality.

Holland vs Austria

🇪🇺 Euro 2020

 Thursday 17th June, 20:00

Austria travel to Amsterdam to face Holland at the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Thursday evening. Both sides recorded wins in their opening games and know another win here will see them qualify for the last 16.

Holland come into this off the back of a 3-2 win over Ukraine. It was a game they had to win twice as they through away a 2 goal lead before securing all 3 points late on with a Denzel Dumfries goal. The Dutch looked good attacking with the likes of Memphis Depay, Frankie De Jong and PSG bound Gini Wijnaldum all creating plenty of chances. With no Virgil Van Dijk at the back, the Dutch look far from watertight at the back and know attack is their best form of defence.

Austria come into this securing a crucial 3 points against North Macedonia in a game they would’ve earmarked to get all 3 points in. Despite their win, Austria do look vulnerable defensively and that was epitomised by the North Macedonia goal which was a catalogue of errors. That was against the lowest ranked side in the tournament and could get found out against teams of higher quality.

Bet of the Day

Both Ukraine and North Macedonia need 3 points and I envisage an open game. Ukraine should have the quality to score 2+ goals against the lowest ranked side in the tournament. The Dutch look like an entertaining side and I see them scoring 2+ in their own stadium against an Austria side who look vulnerable defensively.

  • Ukraine to score 2+ goals
  • Holland to score 2+ goals
  • Double Pays 2.08/1 (William Hill)
