Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me stay in Scandinavia once more and there’s two fixtures in the Icelandic second-tier that I like the look of for goals to form a solid looking double.
Afturelding vs HK Kópavogur
🇮🇸 1. Deild
⏰ Friday 5th August, 20:15
Two sides who come into this in excellent shape meet in the city of Mosfellsbær on Friday evening, as table-toppers HK travel to fifth-placed Afturelding in the Icelandic second-tier.
After failing to win any of their opening six league fixtures, Afturelding come into this having won six of their next eight (W6-D1-L1), including each of their last three. Magnús Már Einarsson’s side have have found the back of the net in each of their last 10 matches and they come into this having scored an eye-catching 22 goals in their last seven league outings. Afturelding have recorded just the one clean sheet so far this season and that came away to bottom-side Thróttur Vogar.
After losing two of their opening three league fixtures, HK have gone on to win nine of their next 11 (W9-D1-L1), including each of their last four. Ómar Ingi Guðmundsson’s side have found the back of the net in 13/14 of their matches so far this season, scoring on multiple occasions in 11 of those. The Kópavogur-based club have managed just one clean sheet in their opening seven fixtures on their travels, letting in 11 goals.
Fylkir vs Grindavík
🇮🇸 1. Deild
⏰ Friday 5th August, 20:15
Two sides in contrasting form meet in Reykjavík also on Friday evening, as second-placed Fylkir play host to eighth-placed Grindavík at the Würth völlurinn.
Fylkir made it five wins on the bounce last time out, as they secured a 0-2 victory away to third-placed Fjölnir. Rúnar Páll Sigmundsson’s side are top-scorers in the Icelandic second-tier, scoring a remarkable 39 goals in their opening 14 league matches, with 23 of them coming in their last seven. Fylkir have found the back of the net on multiple occasions in 11 of their league fixtures so far this season, including in each of their last seven.
After beginning the season unbeaten in each of their opening seven league matches, Grindavík come into this having lost five of their last seven, including each of their last three. Alfreð Elías Jóhannsson’s side are one of three sides in the division yet to win away from home this season and come into this having lost each of their last three on their travels. Grindavík have conceded on multiple occasions in six of their last seven league outings, letting in 16 goals in that run.
Bet of the Day
Both Afturelding and HK come into this fixture in fine goal-scoring form and it’s hard not to envisage goals when the pair meet in Mosfellsbær on Friday evening. The hosts come into this having scored a remarkable 22 times in their last seven matches and will be confident of netting against an HK defence that’s kept just one clean sheet on their travels this season. HK have scored in 13/14 of their league fixtures, scoring on multiple occasions in 11 of those and they too should net against a Afturelding defence who’s only clean sheet came against bottom-side Thróttur Vogar.
Fylkir are the leagues form side, winning each of their last five and should be too strong for a Grindavík side that’s lost five of their last seven and who are winless on their travels so far this season. Rúnar Páll Sigmundsson’s hosts have scored 23 goals in their last seven, netting on multiple occasions in each and there’s a good chance they’ll bag another brace against a Grindavík defence that’s conceded at least twice in six of their last seven league outings.
