Looking to return to winning ways following Saturday’s loser in Germany, Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Dutch Eredivisie, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs separated only by two points in the Eredivisie table meet at De Grolsch Veste on Sunday morning as fourth-placed Ajax travel to seventh-placed FC Twente in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
John van den Brom’s hosts have scored 17 goals across their opening nine Eredivisie outings, with 15 (88%) of them coming across their previous five matches.
After failing to score in three of their opening four Eredivisie matches, The Tukkers have found the back of the net in each of their next five – scoring 2+ goals in each of them – and will be confident of breaching an Ajax defence that is without a clean sheet in each of their previous nine matches in all competitions, shipping multiple goals in six of their last seven.
John Heitinga’s visitors have scored 17 goals across their opening nine Eredivisie fixtures this term, with eight (47%) of them coming across their four road trips.
De Godenzonen have failed to score in just one of their opening nine encounters in the Dutch top flight – notching on multiple occasions in seven (78%) of them – and will also be confident of getting on the scoresheet against a Twente defence that is yet to keep a clean sheet this season, shipping 14 goals.

After the dismissal of head coach Joseph Oosting, Twente’s next five Eredivisie fixtures have averaged a whopping 4.80 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in each of them (2-2, 5-1, 3-2, 2-1 & 3-3).
Ajax’s opening nine Eredivisie contests this term have averaged 3.22 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in six (67%) of them – including in all four (100%) away from home (2-2, 1-1, 2-2 & 3-3) – whilst four of their previous five have seen a minimum of three goals.
