Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on league action from both Holland and Germany. I’ve picked a goal based selection from each to give us a nice odds against double.

Almere City vs Roda JC

?? Eerste Divisie

⏰ Friday 14th January, 19:00

Promotion chasing Roda JC travel to the Yanmar Stadium to take on lowly Almere City. The visitors come into this in 7th, inside the playoff places, whilst the hosts lie second from bottom.

New Almere coach Alex Pastoor took charge of his first game on Monday evening and saw his new side thumped 5-1 away to PSV II. Despite their lowly position, Almere have scored in 18 of their 21 matches this season, failing to score only once at home. Only five of the current top seven have outscored Almere this season, with them finding the back of the net on 34 occasions. However, the Black Sheep have kept only two clean sheets this season and have the second worst defence, conceding 48 goals.

Roda edged out MVV in their last league fixture, meaning Jurgen Streppel’s side are unbeaten in each of their last six, with them winning three of their last four. Just like their opponents, Roda have failed to find the back of the net on just three occasions this season and have scored in 12 of their last 13. The men from Kerkrade are one of the five sides to have outscored Almere this season, finding the back of the 39 times. Roda have managed to keep seven clean sheets so far this season, but five of those have come at home, with them conceding in eight of their last nine on their travels.

Borussia Dortmund vs Freiburg

?? Bundesliga

⏰ Friday 14th January, 19:30

Borussia Dortmund will aim to keep the pressure on league leaders Bayern Munich, as they play host to European chasing Freiburg at the Signal Iduna Park to kick off matchday 19 in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund came from two goals down to win 2-3 away to in-form Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday to cut the gap at the top to six points. Dortmund boast a near perfect record at home in the Bundesliga, winning 8/9, with only reigning champions Bayern leaving with all three points. Marco Rose’s side have only failed to score once this season, with them finding the back of the net on 44 occasions. 26 of those goals have come at home, with the Black and yellows scoring at least twice in all nine at the signal Iduna Park.

Freiburg were lefty frustrated last time out, as they threw away a two goal lead, to draw 2-2 at home to relegation threatened Arminia Bielefeld. Christian Streich’s men come into this winning only two of their last eight matches, losing half of them. Freiburg have only kept two clean sheets in their last nine in the Bundesliga, conceding 12 goals. Freiburg have lost 12 and drawn one of their last 13 matches at the Siganl Iduna Park, conceding 2+ in 10 of them.

Bet of the Day

Almere host Roda in the Dutch second tier in a match that promises goals. These two sides are amongst the top scoring sides in the division, scoring 73 goals between them this season. With Almere having the second worst defence in the league and Roda conceding in eight of their last nine away, it shows that both of these sides are better in attack than they are in defence. Therefore, it looks likely that both of these sides will get on the scoresheet and that should lead to over 2.5 goals. Borussia Dortmund clawed themselves back in the title race last week following Bayern’s defeat at home to Gladbach and their comeback win away to Frankfurt. Marco Rose knows this is a must win game and they’ll fancy their chances at home to Christian Streich’s Freiburg side. Dortmund have scored 26 goals at home in the Bundesliga, scoring 2+ in all nine and I’m backing them to keep that run going against a Freiburg side thats won just two of their last eight in the Bundesliga and who threw away a two goal lead at home to 17th placed Arminia Bielefeld last weekend.
