Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the critical match at the San Siro and I’ve came up with a bet builder involving goals and cards.

⚽️ Milan vs FC Salzburg

🇪🇺 Champions League

⏰ Wednesday 2nd November, 20:00

Milan welcome FC Salzburg to San Siro on Wednesday evening in what is a critical fixture for both clubs. The hosts need just a point to secure their place in the knockout stages, whilst the visiting Austrians must win if they are to seal a place in the last 16 for the second successive season.

Milan bounced back from back-to-back defeats against group winners Chelsea by winning 0-4 in the Croatian capital last week against Dinamo Zagreb to climb up into second place in Group E. However, The Rossoneri saw their four-match winning run come to an end in Serie A on Sunday evening, as they were beaten 2-1 in Turin against Torino, leaving them six points behind league leaders Napoli. The reigning Italian champions have struggled for clean sheets this season, managing only four from a possible 17 in league and Europe this season. However, Stefano Pioli’s men rarely fail to net, with only Sassuolo and Chelsea (twice) stopping them from scoring so far this season.

Salzburg suffered their first defeat in the group stage last time out, as they were beaten 1-2 at home to Chelsea in what was a very watchable encounter. The reigning Austrian champions maintained their two-point lead at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga at the weekend as they secured a narrow 1-0 victory at home to bottom side Hartberg. Matthias Jaissle’s visitors have found the back of the net in 18/19 of their league and European fixtures this season, including all five in Europe. However, Die Roten Bullen have mustered just a solitary clean sheet in Europe this season, with that coming at home to Dinamo Zagreb.

Bet of the Day

It all comes down to this for both Milan and FC Salzburg in their pursuit of qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League, and I’m expecting fireworks in Milan on Wednesday evening. Both teams are stacked with plenty of attacking talent and rarely fail to score, and with neither team particularly tight defensively, I’m expecting both to get on the scoresheet.

To increase the price, I’ve selected both sides to collect a card, a selection that has landed in 31/36 of the pair’s collective domestic and European fixtures this season.
