Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the big match at Ibrox and I reckon we could see goals here.
Rangers vs Liverpool
🇪🇺 Champions League
⏰ Wednesday 12th October, 20:00
Just eight days on from their defeat at Anfield, Rangers welcome Liverpool to what will be an atmospheric Ibrox on Wednesday night on Matchday 4 in Group A.
Rangers suffered their third successive defeat in Group A, as they were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in the reverse fixture just eight days ago. That result now means The Gers sit bottom of the group, three points adrift of Ajax in third place. Domestically, Rangers finally seem to be hitting a decent run of form, as they followed up their 0-4 victory at Tynecastle against Hearts by defeating St Mirren by the same scoreline at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men have now won all five of their league fixtures at Ibrox this season, scoring a total of 16 goals.
After a 4-1 thrashing in Naples on Matchday 1, Liverpool bounced back with successive victories at home to both Ajax and Rangers. Jürgen Klopp’s side now sit second in Group A, three points behind group leaders Napoli but more importantly three points ahead of third-placed Ajax. Liverpool’s miserable start to their Premier League campaign continued at the weekend – despite coming back from a goal down on two separate occasions – lost 3-2 to early pacesetters Arsenal. Liverpool may have scored in all bar one of their 11 Premier League and Champions League outings this season, but The Reds have registered just three clean sheets across those matches.

Bet of the Day
Rangers are still looking to not only claim their first point in Group A but also score their first goal, and they will be hoping the electric Ibrox atmosphere will help them do so. The Gers were comfortably beaten at Anfield last week, and if not for Allan McGregor, the scoreline could’ve been a whole lot worse.
Nevertheless, Rangers still had two terrific chances late on at Anfield and probably should’ve scored and with boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst already saying his side will be more attacking, I’m hopeful they’ll cause this vulnerable Liverpool defence problems and get on the scoresheet. However, Jürgen Klopp’s side is stacked with a plethora of attacking talent and it would be a major surprise if they didn’t score at least once against a Rangers defence that’s already conceded nine goals across their opening three group-stage matches.
