After seeing our winning run end at five at Swansea on Wednesday, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the German 2. Bundesliga, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs in contrasting form in the German 2. Bundesliga table meet at the Bielefelder Alm on Saturday lunchtime as second-placed Elversberg travel to promoted Arminia Bielefeld in a fixture that I’m keen to get the in-form visitors on side.
Arminia made an impressive start to the campaign following promotion from the 3. Liga, picking up 10 points across their opening five matches (W3-D1-L1).
However, Michel Kniat’s hosts have gone on to lose each of their next four, the latest of which was a 4-3 loss at third-placed Paderborn, taking the total to 12 goals being conceded in that four-game losing run.
What’s more, Bielefeld have also lost three of their last four 2. Bundesliga fixtures in front of their supporters, with their solitary success in that run coming against rock-bottom Magdeburg.
Elversberg, in contrast, headed into MD10 sitting top of the 2. Bundesliga table, a point clear of Schalke, picking up 22 points from their opening nine matches (W7-D1-L1).
Vincent Wagner’s visitors arrive in North Rhine-Westphalia off the back of six wins and a draw from their previous seven league outings, including success in each of their last three road trips (2-0, 4-1 & 4-0).
Bet of the Day
There are a couple of ways you can approach this match, with the 5/4 at Bet365 for Elversberg to win very tempting given the contrasting form these two clubs arrive into this clash in.
However, given that Bielefeld are more than capable of scoring (scored in every league match so far this season), I’m happy to back Elversberg to Score Over 1.5 Goals, albeit at a far lesser price than the outright win.
The visitors have fired in an impressive 21 goals across their previous seven league encounters – scoring 2+ goals in six (86%) of them – and I’m backing them to have too much firepower for an Arminia side that has leaked 12 goals across their four consecutive defeats, shipping multiple goals in each of them.
