A DECENT batch of big names are back in ATP action this week as the World Tennis Tournament gets under way in Rotterdam.

Beaten Australian Open finalist Andy Murray is the 5-2 title favourite at BetVictor while Stan Wawrinka – appearing at the tournament for the first time since 2005 – is next at 9-2 with Skybet and begins his campaign against Dutchman and world No.248 Jesse Huta Galung today.

Other opening-round matches on Monday include Gilles Muller chalked up at 11-8 by Betfred against David Goffin (3-5, BetVictor) and Austrian youngster Dominic Thiem, a 13-10 underdog at StanJames when he takes on Ernests Gulbis (8-15, Coral).

Elsehwere on the ATP Tour the likes of Ivan Dodig, Marinko Matosevic and Dustin Brown are on court at the Memphis Open today.

Snooker world champ Mark Selby won his first ranking title since the Crucible when he saw off Shaun Murphy 9-7 in yesterday's German Masters Final and today there are 12 matches in the Championship League with John Higgins the biggest star on show.

It's also a busy night in the NBA with nine fixtures including Golden State Warriors at Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic, with interim coach James Borrego in charge following the sacking of Jacque Vaughn, travelling to Washington Wizards.

    Cheers Scott!

Kokkinakis won so my 4- fold , which became a 3-fold with Kuznetsova v Radwanska cancelled, is a winner.

I’ve already posted quite a few tips for Monday/Tuesday matches and I’m impatient for them to get underway. A quick recap:

    Pospisil d Kohlschreiber @ 17/10 (now 31/20)
    Bellucci d Klizan @ 4/5 (now 8/11)
Sousa d Simon tipped @ 21/10 (has drifted a fair bit since I tipped. Should I be worried…?)
    Hernandez d Estrella Burgos @ 10/3

    Johnson
    Sousa
    Granollers
    Karlovic
    Pospisil
    Bellucci
    Tomic @ 47/1

    :p

  2. Ad 9 years ago

I’m also going to have to reluctantly tip Milos Raonic to win the title in Rotterdam @ 6/1. The draw is top heavy and he SHOULD have few problems till he plays Wawrinka/ Dimitrov in the Semi final. If he makes the final it’s likely Murray/Berdych. He has a winning record over both. If Raonic is serving well he will take some stopping.

  3. Ad 9 years ago

Schwartzman @ 43/1 to win Brasil.

His draw is potentially very good, with a very winnable opener against Lorenzi and then a date with Fabio Fognini which really could go any which way. If Fabs off he will take his chance and then possibly meet an off form Giraldo before things might get a little tougher in the semi final. There really isn’t anyone in the field to be unduly scared of at the moment though, so consisering the potentially smooth passage for Schwartzman in the early stages (fabio dependant) this is worth a risk @ 43/1.

Yeh cheers Ad, for the 4 fold.

Mate, Bolelli or Rosol? Or none, lol?

I like Bautista to win 2-0 too

    • Ad 9 years ago

Atilla, call it hindsight if you will, but i would’ve said Bolelli! Rosol is useless right now. But I don’t quite trust Bolelli enough to feature him heavily in my bets. Bautista Agut was a good shout, did you go for it in the end? Zverev is a player I really rate and have high hopes for so I probably would’ve stayed away just because you never quite know when someone that young and talented is going to string it all together. Still, that’s just me being overly cautious and the smart bet was certainly 2-0 Agut. He’s had a superb 12 months.

  7. Augustus 9 years ago

Attila and Ad. When you are betting on tennis and NBA do you do singles or doubles or both? I have been doing large accumalators lately with no joy and am looking at changing my betting plan. Would you bother betting on odds of 2/5 for example?? I find it hard to bet on odds of such short prices as singles but maybe that’s where I am going wrong.

    • Attila 9 years ago

@Augustus – the smart way is to stick singles, doubles & trebles around EVENS. 3 x 2/5 odds will make it close to Evens.
My problem is, I have feck all luck when I try to stick to sensible betting. I have way more luck when I’m annoyed after losing and I just lump on a 6 or 8 fold…somehow it wins most the time and I recoup losses usually.
Don’t know what it is, think its cos I just follow gut and dont think too much when I’m annoyed over a loss…seems the more I think about a bet the worse it performs, lol.
But I wont recommend that strategy at all. Stuck to singles from $1.75 to $2.00, doubles from $2.00 to $2.50 and trebles from $2.50 to $3.00…that seems to have most consistent results.

    • Attila 9 years ago

Not posting tips for a while sorry mac. Need to sort my head out and just pick without betting. Bit like what Huggy’s doing.

  8. Attila 9 years ago

Mixed Sports 6 Fold (smallish stakes for fun):

    – El Masry & Draw 1.10 (Egypt footy)
    – R.Bautista WIN 1.11 (rotterdam tennis)
    – KB Stars W WIN 1.30 (Korean b’ball)
    – Kepco WIN 1.35 (Korean volleyball)
    – Karaganda ML 1.29 (Russian vhl hockey)
    – Belye Medvedi & Draw 1.22 (Russian mhl hockey)

    6 FOLD pays $3.37

Or pick ur own from the 6 to make a safe double or treble. All legs are pretty safe IMO but there’s always 1 to let ya down :-)

Thanks Ad for all yesterday winners, sorry for trouble any chance you could give where there are playing please as is difficult to find by names.
    great staff thanks

    • Ad 9 years ago

      No problem-

Pospisil v Kohlschreiber is in Rotterdam tomorrow
Bellucci v Klizan is in Sau Paulo tomorrow
Sousa v Simon is in Rotterdam tomorrow
Hernandez v Estrella Burgos is in Santo Dominigo tomorrow

Karlovic and Tomic both play in Memphis tomorrow.

      Granollers plays in Rotterdam tomorrow.

    • Ad 9 years ago

Oh, and Johnson is also in Memphis tomorrow.

  10. OriaZ 9 years ago

    Ad,

I need to get my bank back up after a very bad week, gonna follow some of your tennis tips.
If i’m not mistaken all the tips you poster are for tomorrow (10th), have you got any tips for today ?

I was maybe thinking of this 4-fold (for just under 2/1) :
    – Bautista-Agut
    – Gulbis
    – Dimitrov
    – Goffin

  11. 7sfcmatty7 9 years ago

Thanks Jordan was on raptors :)

  12. Augustus 9 years ago

Thanks for the feedback Attila. That is sound advice. I just backed a double and got a winner so that’s my plan from now on. Steady as she goes. Have a good week

  13. Ad 9 years ago

    As for bets for today.
There aren’t too many outright wins I strongly fancy. Gulbis is not someone I like to put my money on, he just can’t be relied upon, Dimitrov should clearly win but Mathieu is playing really well and Goffin v Muller is really hard to call.

I think games might be the best bets.

    Goffin v Muller over 22.5 must have a great chance @ 4/5
Muller can hold serve all day long indoors if he’s really on fire, but Goffin is tenacious and returns and moves so well, and will win the majority of extended rallies, so it’s hard to see anything other than a tight affair. I’d be surprised a anything more one sided than 6-4, 7-6, which would bring the bet in.

Hanescu v Kokkinakis is another one that looks good for going over 22.5 games. Kokkinakis has needed a tiebreak to win 3 of the 4 sets he’s competed this week. He is a great young talent and plays very well behind serve, but he really is’t a very accomplished returner yet. Hanescu is vastly experienced and a crafty player on any surface. Tiebreaks tend to be a feature of his matches on faster surfaces and this one may see breaks at a premium and another close fought match.

  14. Jordan 9 years ago

    No probs Matty!

Augustus. Are you surprised that you’re having no joy with large accumulators? Only takes one to down the bet mate.

  15. V P 9 years ago

Atilla we do get Aussie rules markets

  16. Jordan 9 years ago

No Griffin for the Clippers tonight as well as JJ Reddick. Possibly no Davis for the Pelicans. Still no Wade and possibly no Whiteside for the Heat. Bucks dealing with a fair few injuries so I’d leave them against the Nets. Anybody on the Suns last night should have checked that starting PG Eric Bledsoe would not play due to the birth of his child. Just a few important players when looking at tonights games.

  17. Ad 9 years ago

Gublis’ forehand has cost him nearly every point so far. Such an easy gameplan for Thiem. Hit the forehand. Hit the forehand. Hit the forehand. Comfortable set for the young Austrian. This is why I don’t back Gulbis!

  18. Jordan 9 years ago

Huggy just seen your comment on the thread from yesterday. Don’t think I fancy getting into synchronized swimming research haha

Attila we get Aussie rules but it’s not something I’d bet on. Popular in Australia maybe, but it’s not worldwide like football, NBA or NFL.

  19. Augustus 9 years ago

Jordan your right as Gublis is just about to blow another large accumalator for me. Back to singles and doubles. Thanks mate

  20. OriaZ 9 years ago

Glad I waited for your input Ad!
Will be on your suggestions tomorrow :-)

Got any advice for a “safer” accumulator than just putting all your suggestions for tomorrow ?

    Thx,

  21. Ad 9 years ago

    Safer than a 47/1 shot?! :p

I’ve not really got any “safe” accas in mind. They’re a bit hard to come by in the first rounds of these kinds of tournaments. I have placed one with PP that I’m hoping proves a winner.

    Mathieu + 6.5 games v Dimitrov
    Berdych d Kamke
    Pospisil + 4.5 games v Kohlschreiber
    Belucci + 3.5 games v Klizan
    Karlovic d Lacko
    Groth + 4. games v Lu
    Young + 4.5 games v Mannarino

pays a little under 3/1. You can never rely on that many legs all landing, but I don’t fancy playing it any safer than that with this set of matches. Not worth the bigger stake at shorter odds.

  22. Ad 9 years ago

*^That should say + 4.5 games for Groth v LU

  23. OriaZ 9 years ago

Thanks for the effort Ad, but Ladbrokes isn’t giving me to option to bet on amount of games (I’m in belgium).

I can only bet on :
    – Winner
    – Total number of sets
    – Winner 1st set
    – Winner 1st set and wins matchs
    – Wins at least 1 set.

    :(

  24. Ad 9 years ago

    AH that’s a shame.

You could try a treble of

Young to win at least 1 set
Pospisil to win at least 1 set
Bellucci to win at least 1 set
    Karovic to win

pays 5/2 and has a better chance than that of landing methinks.

  25. OriaZ 9 years ago

    It’s up Ad!
    Let’s hope it lands :D

    • Ad 9 years ago

      Here’s hoping. Don’t know why I said treble…clearly 4-legs there!

  26. Jordan 9 years ago

    GSW Warriors -7.5
    Dallas Mavericks -4.5

  27. OriaZ 9 years ago

  28. Jordan 9 years ago

    Dallas Mavericks -1.5
    Washington Wizards -2
    Nuggets/Thunder over 199.5

    @ 11/10 @ Skybet

  29. Jordan 9 years ago

Would put up reasoning for my bets but I don’t see the point. I could write an essay for each pick on why I think it’ll come in and it could still lose. All the best if you use any picks mentioned.

  30. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

    Heat ML
    Bucks ML

    Double 11/10 bet365

    Thoughts Jordan etc?

  31. Jordan 9 years ago

Bucks have a few injuries and the Heat are without Wade and Whiteside. Not two teams I’d be on tonight. Still waiting on news for Davis which is the only other team I’d add into my picks.

  32. Ad 9 years ago

I’ve been umming and aaaring about whether to back Mathieu to beat Dimitrov tonight. In the end it’s a YES, but it’s a pretty silly bet! 6/1 is too big for me to pass on though. This is one of those bets ive deliberated for so long Id rather lose a few quid than kick myself for not backig a long odds winner!

    Mathieu d Dimitrov @ 6/1

Will most likely be looking like an idiot in a few hours time, but I’m crossing my fingers for the 1/7 time I end up looking like a genius :p

    Cycling: Tour of Qatar 2015

There have been 2 stages already and there is a time trial tomorrow. One of the best time trialists is still very close in the GC and has a very good chance to win the race overall.

Winner: Maciej Bodnar EW @ 9.00 with betvictor

  34. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

Cool Jordan thanks..just read team news..that is key aswel.

  35. Jordan 9 years ago

Leave the Pelicans out tonight. Davis will not play and neither will Ryan Anderson.

  36. Mac 9 years ago

Ad so far great staff from Mathieu, keep going only one more set!

  37. Ad 9 years ago

Mathieu takes the first set 6-4 :D

To cover or not to cover, that is the question.
    Anyone on @ 6/1?

  38. Mac 9 years ago

I am on 6/1 small stake so no cover for me. Thanks

    • Ad 9 years ago

Just seen this Mac, unlucky mate. Deserved to win all day long. I sometimes don’t cover small stakes but always end up regretting it if it loses. Profit is profit!

  43. Ad 9 years ago

Mathieu is now on his way to a hugely unfortunate defeat at the hands of Dimitrov. Two match points missed in the second set and then a very harsh decision to replay the first point of the tiebreak which he had won to go a mini-break up. He lost his head a bit from there. But as I cashed out when he went a break up it’s all academic for me! Hope anyone else on covered/cashed out as well. He made the 6/1 look silly anyway!

    • De Niro 9 years ago

      Ad
those picks are gold dust 6/1 – keep away from the shorties,
I bet you are the only guy on any site tipping Mathieu – top stuff even though he lost. Lots of profit for anyone in play. I didnt have the nerve to follow but top stuff.

  44. Ad 9 years ago

Cheers mate. Think youre right about outsiders being the way to go. I’ve picked one real favourite in the last two days and it was Verdasco and he got beat 2-0!

Wish I’d tipped Young, I meant to and just forgot. Backed him though, no idea why he was 6/4. Hopefully you’re 2-0 lands for you, a nice pick whatever happens. Good luck.

  50. GruntBunny 9 years ago

Anyone fancy Thunders at -2.5 @ 8/15 away at Nuggets? Surely they will have too much even though they are away.

  51. Christy 9 years ago

Pacers and heat double for me anyone agree/disagree?? Just under 3/1

  52. Jordan 9 years ago

GruntBunny, you’d think so, but look at the h2h. OKC played last night, and it’s in Denver so high altitude. I’d say over if anything.

  53. Jordan 9 years ago

Spurs might have lost yesterday but it was against a good team. Pacers are very inconsistent. Popovich chasing his 1000th career win as a coach, not for me Christy. Also I’ve said enough about the Heat today. Wade out, Whitseside questionable. Good luck people my thoughts are out there.

  54. jizzy66 9 years ago

They are my POD fishman. More confident at home and Spurs 1-8-1 ATS last 10. Dont know if any starters will be rested because of B2B

  55. Ad 9 years ago

Goffin Muller sails past the overs mark of 22.5 games. Along with Hanescu v Kokkinakis thats 2/2 overs today :)

  56. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

    Well done Ad brilliant.

    I had both.

    • Ad 9 years ago

      Good man, happy days!

  57. Ad 9 years ago

Sticking with the upset theme here.

Another one i’ve been mulling over whether to tip or not for a while, but I’m going for it:

Lucic Baroni to beat Karlolina Pliskova @ 7/2 (Antwerp/ Weds)

Pliskova has had to travel all the way from Canada to Belgium for this one. In fact I think she may actually still be in Canada, which would give her even less time to adjust and get over jetlag by Wednesday. Add to that the fact she really din’t play very well in her last match against a fairly toothless and error prone Dabrowski and there could be an upset in the air.
There are question marks over Lucic Baroni after her last two matches – a retirement in Hobart and a 6-1, 6-1 thumping in Melbourne – but her form at the end of last season was superb, dumping Muguruza an Halep out of the US Open before beating Venus Williams in the final of Quebec. Those results demonstrate her ability and her comfort on an indoor hard court, and I’m going to gamble on her fitness and sharpness and back against the big favourite in this one.

  58. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

    Risky 5 fold…low stake only

    Wizards ht/ft
    Mavericks ht/ft
    Warriors ht/ft
    Bucks ML
    Pacers ML

    9.2/1 bet365

    Also on Jordans double.

Gl everyone and goodnight..time to make money in my sleep (i wish) ha

  59. Brian tennis 9 years ago

5.5/1 treble lands comfortably in the end. Dodig has gotta be in with a shout of beating Isner. Also think roger-vasselin might sneak the first set against monfils. He’s been serving well this week, that one pays 9/4. Probably gonna play it safer though. Schiavone and maybe monaco to beat de bakker, depending on the odds

  60. Ad 9 years ago

risking rola @ 7/1 in play to comeback against almagro. playing well and its a close match. Slightly on top this set i’d say.

    • Ad 9 years ago

Jesus, Rola misses three break points straight away with feeble efforts. Maybe he’s not got the metal to win this one. Should have taken the set already.
