THE 2018 Bwin World Series of Darts Finals will be the fourth staging of the event, organised by the PDC. The tournament will take place in the Multiversum Schwechat, Vienna, Austria, from 2–4 November 2018. It will feature a field of 24 players.
The expanded 2018 World Series saw six events held between May and August and saw six different winners. Along the way progress of each event translated into ranking points and sees the event staged over three days.
With eight seeds and sixteen qualifiers as a combination of PDC order of merit qualifiers, World Series leading order of merit and four tour card qualifiers.
The opening round will see the 16 qualifiers face off for a place into round two where the winners have been drawn against a seeded player.
Peter Wright is the number one seed and has Simon Whitlock, Gary Anderson and Michael Smith all in his half of the draw
The other half of the draw has Mighty Michael Van Gerwen, Raymond van Barneveld, Rob Cross and Mensur Suljovic.
The outright market sees The Green Machine MVG at 10/11, with Gary Anderson at 6/1. Snakebite Peter Wright occupies a 17/2 listing, with Rob Cross 16/1 and bigger for the rest.
One bet that we have identified as a possible play is the 170 checkout and Glenn Woodage has it chalked at 6/17 for it to land and 11/5 for us to draw a blank.
The last two World Series Finals went without the BIG finish although on tour 170’s were seen over the summer. For players wanting some insurance on a lucky finish, Glenn at Sponsors Bwin chalks 7/10 on fewer than two and 11/10 for more than one 170 finish.
So if we see no 170 finish you will receive 11/5 odds. Taking 0-1 170’s is 7/10 so by taking an odds on price divisional cut effectively provides some leverage. Of course two or more is game set and match for the layer but see this bet being cut in price before players toe the oche.
Looking at rounds one and two are banana skin race to six legs for the victory. I am not a fan of this, however the quality of some opposition should see some Tour card holders finding their way to round two so bets will be low stake.
