AFTER another rollercoaster year on the darts circuit, we are back at the World Championships where a huge £400,000 payday is on offer for the winner in the £1.8 Million overall prize fund!
With the PDC World Championship running through to New Year’s Day we are sure to be in for a great event including seeing a farewell from Phil Taylor!
Michael van Gerwen is the overwhelming 8/11 trimmed in from 4/5 earlier in the week.
Gary Anderson is second favourite at 7/1 with Taylor and Wright both at 14’s with the rest 16’s and bigger.
Mighty Mike’s journey will not be easy with a potential showdown again with Raymond van Barneveld In the quarter final. MVG is an incredible 9/2 ON with Sunbets to reach the semi final.
I was interested in the 9-dart market when Boylesports were offering a tidy 6/4 and was on the market up until a couple of days ago and had been tipped on my lockuptipster.weebly.com earlier this month. The best price to not see a 9 dart finish is just 13/10 now with backers being able to still get 4/6 with Skybet.
In addition to this, I was liking a Simon Whitlock bet which is deemed acceptable at minimum odds of 1.75 -1.5 sets against Martin Schlindler. The German is still learning the game and think a debut on this stage may overwhelm him. I took this at 1.78 but 1.75 is acceptable. I could quite accept doubling this up with Ian White to win for a 2.17 early Christmas present.
You may think is this big enough and I just Ian White bar a complete disaster will get over the line with some comfort, and has a fair chance of a 3-0 straight sets win.
Whitlock is the riskier of the two as he must not lose more than one set and of course win the game. Although Whitlock has had a good year despite a slight blip recently he has fond memories here and a PL place is in the running for him Post World Championship.
There are tasty games each session with the possibility of shocks in some games.
