Day four of the Australian Open is here. That means we have some second-round matches in play, with the men’s and women’s singles draws now shaved in half. Keep reading to find out what our best tennis betting tips are for this Wednesday at Melbourne Park.
Best Australian Open betting tips for day 4
Draper vs Kokkinakis – both to win a set @ 1/2
Jack Draper and Thanasi Kokkinakis have played some really close matches in the past and that's likely to happen again this time. Both looked good enough to win their first-round matches but also shaky enough to warrant caution.
This simply reads like a match that will most likely go on for at least four, if not five, sets. Betting on each to win a set makes the most sense because picking a winner here is tough, considering it could go either way.
Dart vs Vekic – over 19.5 games @ 5/6
This matchup looks like another complicated one, and there are stats to help us unpack it.
The only match these two have played so far was actually won by Harriet Dart, but it was on grass and that obviously skewed the odds more to her side. Donna Vekic is a far better player on hard courts and generally is better than Dart; however, she hasn’t played all that well recently.
She won her first-round match in straight sets, but Parry lacks the power Dart can bring. With a bit more power and a bit more grit, which Dart does bring to most of her matches, we see this going to three sets.
Going the distance makes the over market a really valuable bet, as it’s all but assured of hitting.
Cazaux vs Fearnley – over 3.5 sets @ 3/6
While some might rush to back Jacob Fearnley here simply because he beat Nick Kyrgios easily, it’s not the right play.
Fearnley is very good, but much of what went well for him against Kyrgios was that the Aussie wasn’t very good. Fearnley has a massive serve and does play attacking tennis, but he can go on missing sprees.
Arthur Cazaux is a very tricky player who plays super aggressively and hits some crazy shots. He ousted Holger Rune last year, so he’s not a pushover. This likely goes at least four sets, if not more, and don’t be shocked if the Frenchman wins.
