Bayern Munich v Hoffenheim
Bundesliga. Friday 24th August, Kick off 7.30pm. Live on BT Sport 2
FRIDAY sees the curtain raiser to the Bundesliga season and it’s hard to see past Bayern Munich becoming Deutscher Meisters for the seventh successive time.
As is customary the champions begin at home, this time being pitted against Hoffenheim.
Despite having changes in the technical area, continuity has been key to the Bavarians squad with the retention of Polish hitman Robert Lewandowski and the addition of Schalke attacker León Goretzka key elements to the expected domination of the league.
Whereas it’s business as usual at the Allianz, a cloud of uncertainty lingers over their visitors. Last season's third-place outfit once again over-achieved in securing Champions League qualification.
Plaudits have reined on the attacking style of play, implemented under the guidance of Julian Nagelsmann. However, the much-vaunted coach has agreed to join rivals RB Leipzig in 2019 inevitably leaving doubt on the capabilities of what can be maintained in this coming campaign.
Combined also with the irony of no longer being able to call upon the services of last year's Player of the Year, Bayern loanee Serge Gnarby, who returns back to his parent club.
Last year's corresponding fixture saw Bayern win 5-2 in a throughly entertaining contest and it's likely to serve up a similar type attaching feast with goals plentiful on opening night.

I’ve went with Bayern Win first half. They often like to get the game won early doors. Pretty much the only German bet I like. League is so hard to predict
Great write up for a great league. Can’t see Bayern not winning it again. I expect Dortmund to be stronger this season and Bayer could be the surprise package this year. Bailey, Brandt, Havertz amongst others, they have some fantastic young players.
