REVERBERATION (6.15) catches the eye in the opener at Kempton this evening.

Sylvester Kirk’s top weight is returning from a 58-day break following his fourth to Luna Eclipse in a Class 5 event. Reverberation drops into Class 6 company off a 1lb lower mark and first-time cheek-pieces are applied. The yard had a welcome winner with Sauchiehall Street a few days ago and stall 2 is ideal.

UBLA (9.15) has the worst of the draw in stall 10 but this is such a poor contest that Oisin Murphy should be able to assume a handy position. Ubla ran a fine race in defeat here five days ago, only being collared inside the final furlong, and although 3lb higher this looks weaker.

There is some tremendous, but oh-so-difficult, action at Cheltenham and FORTH BRIDGE (5.30) is fancied to go close in the finale.

Charlie Longsdon’s gelding will appreciate the drying ground and ran a belter in the bet365 Scottish County Hurdle at Musselburgh when just denied by Dear Sire. The winner ran really well in defeat at Aintree last Saturday and Harry Reed takes off 5lb.

The middle day at Newmarket’s Craven meeting is full of potentially improving horses and I’ll be trading on the exchanges but race-fitness will not be an issue for CASEY JONES (5.55).

Whether he can translate his winning Newcastle form to turf is anyone’s guess but John Gosden’s colt has looked a thorough stayer which stands him in good stead for this competitive 1m 2f handicap.
