DONNACHIES GIRL (2.20) looks a bit of value at big odds on an excellent Monday card at Musselburgh.
Alistair Whillans’s filly has enjoyed a productive season and she was given a well deserved break after chasing home Sepal and Brimham Rocks in the Ladbrokes Silver Bell at Hamilton in August. Brimham Rocks franked the form in no uncertain terms when bolting up at York on Saturday.
Her ability to handle soft ground will stand Donnachies Girl in good stead and she should strip a bit straighter on the back of a recent comeback run behind unstoppable Brandon Castle at Ayr. At the price, she is an each-way bet if all eight go to post.
So Celebre was pipped in a blanket finish at Kempton three days ago and Ian Williams wouldn’t be sending him so far north if he didn’t sniff a winning opportunity.
GET KNOTTED (2.50) should be involved in the finish to a competitive 7f Class 2 handicap.
Michael Dods’s five-year-old got a bit bogged down in the Haydock quagmire when fifth to classy Donjuan Triumphant last time but he has stacks of good summer form, including a fine York victory in July. The handicapper has dropped Get Knotted 2lb on the back of that Haydock outing.
Godolphin’s Big Tour is the improver in the field but this represents a sharp rise in grade. Stall 11 isn’t ideal, either, and he could be worth taking on.
WOR LASS (5.25) has been knocking at the door and she has been found a winning opportunity.
Already a dual Musselburgh winner, Wor Lass couldn’t quite match strides with in-form Question Of Faith at Ayr but this is a good bit easier.
