AFTER the magnificent memories of The Masters some of the stars of Augusta are back on European soil at the Spanish Open in Valderrama.
I looked closely at Soren Kjeldsen but his exploits may have taken a lot out of him although he played superbly and should start climbing back up the world rankings.
I’m going for Dutchman Joost Luiten who in seven starts this season has recorded four top-10 finishes and only been out the top 15 once.
He has good form at Valderrama, finishing fifth in the Andalucia Masters in 2010 and was fourth in this tournament in 2014. His driving accuracy is 60.7% (56th) and GIR a really good 75% (14th).
If there is anything to worry about it might be his putting with 29.6 per round but I am quite confident he can be there at the death.
Rafa Cabrera Bello has being playing the last two or three weeks with a smile on his face and opefully it can continue this week. With his performance in the WGC Dell Matchplay, finishing third, and T17 in The Masters last week he has in the form of his life.
He would love to win his native Open and is surely in with a chance. Of seven tournaments this year he was been out the top 15 twice. His stats for GIR are high at 78.5% (5th) and considering his driving accuracy is 59% that makes the first figure awesome.
