WELL, it was another week another second. I can’t seem to get that elusive winner but as long I get a return I’m happy. Last week it was Henrik Stenson, for the second week in a row, who earned me a small place return as he three-putted twice in the last three holes to lose by one.
This week the PGA Tour moves to San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open with 13 of the current top 30 taking part, including Dustin Johnston and Jordan Spieth, but with the short prices being offered on those two I’m going to give them a miss.
Ryan Palmer’s driving accuracy is 56% but his GIR is 70%. He is ninth on Tour for strokes gained tee to green and as it is normally windy here and he hits the ball low off the tee the Texan has the all-round game to secure the title.
Matt Kuchar has gone off the boil somewhat over the last two or three tournaments but this might be the time for him to get back in the groove. In the Valspar Open last week his driving accuracy was 69.23% which is a big improvement on his last two tournaments.
His GIR has been around the 58% mark for a few outings, down on when he was hitting around 70% earlier in the year, but I think a small each-way wager on him might might be worth it.
One man playing steady golf at the moment is Canadian Jason Kokrak. His driving accuracy and GIR improved quite a bit in the last two tournaments which led to him finishing T7 and T6. He is still looking for his first win and has had 10 top-10 finishes, including one second and one third in his four seasons.
Over on the European Tour in Morocco two players stand out for me, Ross Fisher and George Coetzee. Fisher, sitting third in the Race to Dubai has hit some consistent form of late and a win here could move him into 48th place and secure an invitation to the Masters. Of course he could win here and still not get that invite.
Coetzee is another hoping a win here will get him that elusive invite. Winner of the Tshwane Open two weeks ago, he has had his ups and downs this year but it looks like he has returned to form.

Well am getting better as I too had stenson last week and tipped kolkrak ew at 66/1 I think which gave a little bit of cash back on paddy power who paid 6 places but another winner would be nice, one hour of form studying ahead then few hours sleep to go and do what helps pay for my betting habit
Raaljacca forget my hour studying ill do your plan 21k sounds good :-) good luck with your bets
Good stuff Lee, tipped Kokrak and Na for top 20 finishes and both landed.
Was good call raaljacca hopefully we get same this week and ace ventura if anyone deserve a rub of green this week it’s you very consistent picks
Anybody fancy Kokrak and Na for another top 20 finish @ 2/1 & 13/8 (PaddyPower)?
AJ both Kokrak and Kevin Na are in good form and decent prices there just depends how they handle the conditions at Texas as Wind often causes problems
Cheers Lee. I was on Raals tip of Kokrak last week and seeing as Ace has backed him E/W I will take the 2/1 for a top 20 finish.
I tipped Kokrak on here last week too mate so there is clearly some collective thinking that he is in the right form, he did same last year which is why i had him last week, he tends come good this time of year but hasnt won for 4 years so we not going get rich off him
Valero Texas Open
Prefer to have guys who are used to Texas conditions as weather can be quite bad so using the homer card this week. All 3 guys big prices s ocan get ew value and after Raaljacca success on first round leader last week am having couple quid on my 3 selections for first round leader
**Jimmy Walker 25/1 E/W at Coral** -won here last year, believe he is from Texas so will know the conditions well
**Ryan Palmer 33/1 E/W at coral *** – will suit conditions, hits ball low which is advantage in these conditions
**Brendan Steele 45/1 E/W Stan James, 888sport, unibet*** – won this in 2011 4th in 2012 and has been playing well this year, with a 2nd and 4th place finish and was playing well last year till he had a shocker in last round shooting 76 to finish back in 35th place, if he holds game together good chance of place money
Good luck

Going for Siem and Horsey in Europe – both 25/1 shots. In USA, like Steele and Summerhays(66/1), who has made the top 10 in each of the last 2 years. Danny Lee could prove a lively outsider at 150/1. Will also have a small win only bet on Jordan Spieth (8/1).
only just noticed there was an actual gowf bit ffs……..
was on your kokrak last week raal and on your tips again this week
spotted them on the fitba thread today as a did last week too, need to keep an eye out here from now……..cheers
Good luck with the golf guys. I play off 4 and couldn’t pick a winner if my life depended on it! I’ve been following ace since he started tipping on here and he’s return rate is phenomenal.
helo guys can u pls help how the each way bet (e/w) works if our selection wins for 33/1? (Just an example odds)
if i bet 1$ stake on each way and if it wins?
$1 at 33/1 for the win returns $34 and $1 for the place is one fifth the win odds 33/1 which is 6.6/1 so $7.60 giving total return of 33 + 7.60 = $40.60
Apologies, alasu is correct it is one quarter not one fifth.
TIPSULTAN, each way in golf is this : You get a Quarter of the odds for a place, TOP 5 (Paddypower do Top 6 in PGA )….So for example 1 E/W @ 33/1 with a Winner, it would return 43.25 …..If, just a place,2nd,3rd 4th or 5th (6th) Returns would be 9.25……Hope this helps.
thanx raalica… waiting for ur more tips
thanx raalica… waiting for ur more tips
Fancy jimmy walker(13/8) to win his 3 ball against speith and Hahn
I’ve tried something different this week.I usually put my EW DBL on before both comps start, this time ive waited a bit longer……George Coetzee @6/1 & Ryan Palmer @ 10/1…..Still get quarter of the odds for place, Top 4.
Great week so far!!
A.Sullivan and C.Lee in Trophee Hassan 11,both missed the cut.
Zach Johnson is at least in top ten, R.Knox looks like he will miss cut in Texas.
Z.Johson last week had an albatross at 16th,looking at 17th for a possible birdie, three putted, then bogied 18 to just miss out on top 6 at 80/1
